Schlamassel

HAHA actually it is both languages mixed together

1st Schlimm (german): meaning terrible, heavy, shocking

2nd masol (jiddish): star, (and so..)

which makes schlimm-masol or Schlamassel or shlemazel

From the Jewish Language Research Website:

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">

Yiddish has historically been the language of the Ashkenazim, the Jews of Central and Eastern Europe and their descendants around the world. At its peak, in the years immediately preceding the Holocaust, there were perhaps ten or eleven million Yiddish speakers worldwide, including about three million in North America. As a combined result of genocide and shift to other languages (mainly English and Hebrew), today there are probably fewer than two million speakers, most of whom no longer use it as their primary language. <span id='postcolor'>

Hey Darlight, did you watch that reprortage yesterday on RTBF at around 11pm. It was about soldiers in real-life combat and what it turns them into. It was realy realy well done. There were lots of stories about former Vietnam soldiers. About Iraq and Bosni. Belgium only has a few own channels, don tell me you missed that!

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.......

I didn't see it, i was out with friends yesterday night... sad.gif

Belgium doesn't have a lot of channels but some are with ppl talking French and some are with ppl talking Flemish.

RTBF is a French speaking channel so i probable don't understand a lot of what they said during the documentary...

I speak Flemish, a little bit French too but i'm not good at languages...

The only language i can understand good enough is english smile.gif

But it still is nice to see documentaries, damn, i hate it that i missed it!

I love watching documentaries about WW1 or 2, i have some videos full of documentaries....

Next time warn me when there's something on television that i might like biggrin.gif

You live in Germany, right? Can you watch our channels? I bet you can't see a lot of them, over here we can see about 1 or 2 German channels, i think....

I now live right on the border to Belgium so yes, I get those channels. It was in french also in English. and I think it had a flamish sub-title (in videotext).

Look here

so yes, you realy missed something!

There was one american soldier who was kind of surprised to find the dried ear of a Vietcong in his photo-album. "Yeah, the good old times, we were animals back then"
