USMC Sniper 0 Posted August 23, 2002 Does anyone know where I can get some free software to take videos of games? I really have to know because I want to use sounds from Americas Army and Hitman 47 in OFP. Thanks in advance.
bn880 5 Posted August 23, 2002 Hard for me to say, but just for recording sound... creative labs sound cards come with the Recording Studio, which can record any sound coming out of the sound card in digital quality. I have not recorded any games digitally... sorry. Next thing is to rip the sound from the game, you have to know your bits and bytes. Actually it may be illegal to use the sounds from AA..? USMC Sniper 0 Posted August 23, 2002 OK thanx, i suppose i will just use the hitman sounds then if the AA ones are illegal to use.
nordin dk 0 Posted August 23, 2002 Obviously, game sounds are in some form or other contained in the software. Even if the file format isn't standard, there's often free conversion tools, which can transform the sounds into a *.wav or *.mp3 file format.
bn880 5 Posted August 23, 2002 Not so obvious, some software comes in one big .exe or .exe + resource file, containing all files inside... that's when he would need to do alot of homework. Don't know about AA.
Harnu 0 Posted August 23, 2002 Why is it the OFP engine can't handle it's own recording programs?
USMC Sniper 0 Posted August 23, 2002 Yeha the AA sound files are ncoded in some ".uax" format. It's probably a standard format for games that will use the Unreal 2003 engine. I tried the recorder utility, and I got hte AA M16 and AK47 sounds, they sounded good in Goldwave, but in OFP they were all messed up.

USMC Sniper 0 Posted August 23, 2002 Anyone know what kind of .wav format is needed for wsscod to code it into a .wss correctly? (eg. 24bit, mono, signed)
Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted August 23, 2002 You better have dual output, or a small LAN better even. ANy game running with SnagIT or something in the background will give you 5-25 fps only....and sh*te quality too.
USMC Sniper 0 Posted August 23, 2002 Yeah, i tried snagit, wasnt too impressed. I managed to get the AA sounds into OFP, just had to convert the wavs to 16 bit, mono, signed. The wavs are pretty big though, the single shots are 90kb and the bursts are 120. sound really good though.
Ex-RoNiN 0 Posted August 23, 2002 Are they any good? Are they realistic or cinema like?
USMC Sniper 0 Posted August 23, 2002 What the AA sounds? Yeah, I think they are really good, if you want to hear them just play AA or maybe I could send you the sound files.
