  1. 1. Do you play with dead zone on?

Don't use, it's not what a soldier would do (point the weapon somewhere other than where he is looking). At least, it's not what I've been trained to do.

So you hold your weapon out in front of your body and keep it perfectly centered to what you're looking at all times? That's not realistic at all imo. Using dead zone actually simulates the player "holding" / "handling" the weapon really well imo. each to their own!

Cheers,

Ice

The recoil of any particular weapon is part and parcel of the Arma experience for me, so if I had any sort of dead zone applied it would feel like I was cheating myself. I also try to practise every day, even if it's just for half an hour, so that over time my muscle memory slowly learns how to deal with any recoil effect. I love the challenge.

The recoil is the same with dead zone and without.

That's freelook, your looking where the weapon is pointing with dead zone, your just twisting the body to look with the weapon. Or am I missing something..

I hadn't tried having dead zone set in a long time and just took Aoshi at his word, but now that I've tried using dead zone again, I agree, there doesn't seem to be any difference to the recoil effect, with or without dead zone. Everyones perception and settings are different of course so maybe Aoshi does notice something.

Yup, it's just a visual thing. With dead zone the backdrop/scenery doesn't jerk up and down when shooting, only the gun. Without any dead zone the whole scenery jerks up and down a bit on your screen.
