RAF 0 Posted August 15, 2002 i was just wondering what the ratio of military personnel to civvys is, and it only counts if your currently serving full time.
Jamesia 0 Posted August 15, 2002 Its probably 100 "civvies" for every 1 soldier.
Paratrooper 0 Posted August 15, 2002 Well I am still a civie, and technically will be for some time. I am joining the Cambridge University Officer corps, in the artillery section. I will have my own 105mm!: I can't wait!

Tex -USMC- 0 Posted August 15, 2002 Just a high school kid at the moment, but more than likely I will be serving in the military on active duty, whether by choice or not (can you say Iraq 2.0?)

Harnu 0 Posted August 15, 2002 Ya, most likely I'll join the Marine Corps. I hope I can actually do something and fight if there is a war with Iraq. I'm not saying I want to kill people, I just mean I don't want to get stuck on some island somewhere doing nothing for my years in the service.
Tovarish 0 Posted August 15, 2002 Civvy. I'm a bit of a pacifist, so other than playing war simms or shooting my friends with a paintball gun, I have no interest in the military.

brgnorway 0 Posted August 16, 2002 I can't see the point in joining the armed forces. I've been there. It's cold, boring, sometimes fun though, but in general the system stinks. You dont actually run around firing your weapon all day. Do something more usefull. Go to university or get a job - it's a hell of a lot more rewarding. Besides, who wants to get killed - or kill for that matter? On the other hand, you dont know what you have missed unless you have tried it.

Aculaud 0 Posted August 16, 2002 Civilian. I’m what I like to refer to as a fantasy war enthusiast. The idea of things like methods of employing forces in combat, tactics, military history, and more specifically, things like special forces and especially sniping intrigue me to no end, but its something I’d never want to be part of in real life. Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted August 16, 2002 I would allways stand ready to defend my country and, if nessecary, die for it. But I would never go to a place in the world like afghanistand or iraq to fight another mans war. If i would be in a war, it would be here in Denmark, defending Denmark. Maybe a war came really close, say finland vs Sweden, I would join the swedish army, but anything less, NO!
WhoCares 0 Posted August 16, 2002 Unfortunatly you usually can't choose the war you participate - your superiors will make this decision for you. Civilist. Served 12 month due to conscription in a Replenishment Battalion in the Bundeswehr, made the truck license, shot with G3, MG3, Panzerfaust 2 or 3 (no live fire but ako tracer), MP3, P1 and threw live hand grenades. I have some nice memories, but sure as hell I am glad to be out of it...
