Gta mod?

Just think of GTA3 with 1st person mode, realistic weapons, big cities and stuff, most of the stuff required can be done with loads of scripting, probably   .

1st Problem: Big Cities, wrong! i have seen a screeny of a large city with very tall buildings, there are loads of car models around and we the Map maker thingy and O2 to make these new structures, obviuosly including the tw@ internet cafe . Of course only a selection of buildings can be accessed and the ones that you can enter only ladders and big openings should be used to stop the poor(ish) clipping from kicking in

2nd prob: Traffic, i wreckon it could be done, similar to the Multiplayer respawn, the traffic and pedestrians, disappear and enter around you. This equals the view distance setting you have and limit the number of people and cars around you to keep things running smoothly. When you dye, you simply respawn around the hospitals. So the closer the view distance, the more spread out stuff is. Oh and make the cars explode instead of crumple in, it looks better .

3rd prob, easy death for you and only 3 weapons max

Im sure you could make your health similar to a tank, not as stong, but you get the health bar and energy at the top, similar to armour and fuel for the tanks, the energy is for sprinting and gradually replenishes or you buy a drink or food to replenish it.

And weapons, well im not sure if its possible, but make your capacity similar to a Ammo truck or somet, and when looking at the gear menu you get this sort of layout

        WEAPON                  PRIM MAGs      SEC MAGs

e.g      M16                        M16 mag         Mortar

                                          x35              x12

the number telling you how many mags you have for that weapon.

Prob 4: cops chasing you when you go riot, im sure this can be done with triggers e.g you shoot a cop, and for a minute other cops around the area come and chase you, these simply respawn randomly along with pedestrians and other vehicles. If you kill another cop in the meanwhile, then more cops will spawn in the area and eventually getting to the SWAT, FBI and the Army.

I wreckon it can be done and even without my idea of the inventory system it will still be good

So do you think it can be done?

with the crumpling vechiles i think it looks good for the cars, thats what happens in acrash anyway, what i would like to see is it catching on fire and blackening sumtimes, the bmp has the best crumple animatio i think. I think more things need to turn black when dead and fire like in resistance missions has shown.

1) GTA3 is fantastic the people who dislike it are those who ONLY muck around because they say they like to muck around but mcuking around gets boring VERY quickly. Do missions and u'll love it.

I tried to make a GTA3ish thing once except I had to use gunslingers mod and desert island. The problemn was the roads were just pictures not real tarmac surfaces so when u drove it was like bumping across the desert. I was acctually trying to make an italian job mission hehehehe. but anyway since I cant drive I mainly use it for urban combat maps now. Any way to make ground more solid?

Grand Theft Auto Three simply sucks. That's all there is to it. Can you say "completely unrealistic?" It's Quakish, cheesy, and totally without any redeeming qualities. At least Max Paine had Bullet Time and outstanding graphics to try to make up for the highly unrealistic and also Quake-style gameplay. Grand Theft Auto Three has terrible graphics (even for a console game), ridiculous controls, no realism, no plot, and no atmosphere. Is my point getting across yet? Sure it was funny, but after Grand Theft Auto Two they should have let it die.

I disagree... I think GTA 3 is rather fun... I've played through it once and am doing so again.

Its nice just to get into cars and race around the city doing your own thing.

Sure it may not have the best graphics in the world, and it may be unrealistic, but really, if there hadn't been a demand for it, it wouldn't have been made.

Even after GTA 2 the number of wishlists for a sequel were enormous.

I have a Ps2 and i also have GTA3, i dunno about the pc version but the ps2 version is awesome. If you ask me there is enough to do and saying that this is not true is just bs!

I can understand that the game gets boring when you play it like 5 hours each day. If you've played it 5 hours each day => get a life!!!

Anyway, there's always something to do, you can play missions, you can just cruise around. You can do the sidequests, you can search for hidden packages, you can bring cars to those garages that reward you when you've found all the cars. You can just cruise around, you can execute innocent civilians, you can drive around searching for weapons, preparing for a huge attack, and then trying to kill as much cops as possible. And so on, i love to just cruise around and when i find a car that i need to deliver, i bring it to the garage. This game's great, the cities are huge compared to others, cars are nice too. The reactions of the ppl is nice, AI is sweet. If you think that the game ends after the missions then you're wrong, i'm now playing in the 3rd island and i haven't played a mission for like 1,5 months and i still have great fun.

I do not agree at all when you say that Max Payne is better, i've played Max Payne, it's a nice game and the slow motion thing is pretty cool but i hate games like Max Payne. Why? They are sooo damn boring, just walking through corridors shooting at some bad guys is pretty dumb if you ask me. That's why i liked ofp so much, because you don't need to run through a corridor, i call it freedom...

GTA3 (actually all the gta games) has a lot of freedom, you can do what you want and that's why it's better.

Anyway, i suppose you guys know what i'm nagging about...

Soon (22 oct. 2002 if everything goes fine) GTA: Vice City will be available in the US (ps2 only), i can't wait until it's available here, it looks like there's gonna be a lot of improvements!!!

I was a huge fan of the GTA series (the first LAN game I played, if I remember), my main beef with GTA3 is no multiplayer...

An OFP GTA mod would help ease the pain...

You are right, thr only thing missing is the multiplayer, perhaps there'll be one in one of the later versions...

I just hope that Vice city will have some new stuff, i don't think it'll have a multiplayer
