ralphwiggum 6 Posted July 30, 2002 i went to summer camp once. and that's good enough for me. i really don't care about food or lodging, just that kids who go with you tend to be idiots and have no sense of enjoying outdoors or appreciating it. i had less anguish in summer schools taking classes for next year than going to useless sumemr camps. come to think of it, if they had some outdoor military-style training that we would have known of, i would have asked my parents to send me there, as long as they taught tactics and shooting. DarkLight 0 Posted July 30, 2002 Well, i go on a camp every year and i love it, all the people that come too are all friends of me. I always have a great time... I've just returned from camp and it was lots of fun. Every year something bad happens to me. This year: - I had a piece of iron through my nail on my foot, i couldn't remove it, at this moment it is still in my too and it hurts like hell. - 1 huge wound in my left foot from the piece of iron that later jammed into my too. - 2nd degree burns on right arm (i had 2nd degree burns on my left arm too, about 3 or 4 years ago, i can still see the scars) - My hands are full of little wounds. - I lost one nail. (rigth foot) - Wounds on both my knees. - I got a huge wound in one of my lips, it's almost recovered now. - Wounds from... (what's that iron wire called? It has sharp things on it to make sure that no one can get through it. They use it in Prison.) Anyway, i got lots of wounds from that on my right leg. - I fell from a wall that's about 3 meters high, i didn't realize it because it was very dark so when i landed on the ground unprepared it hurt baaaad. Hmmm, i guess that's about it for this year I also had, 1 huuuuge wound that covered my whole back, it stayed there for about 3 weeks, you can still see the scar. (happened about 5 years ago) As i said, i burned my right arm. I had a hole in my knee, after a couple days it started to rot, i can guarantee you, human flesh that is rotting smells horrible. It looked black and it hurt like hell. Hmm can't really remember much bad things, these last ones are from the last years, the other ones i can't remember. LauryThorn 0 Posted July 30, 2002 I used to be in boy scouts, and this one summer camp was something to remember.. Everything went fine, until one of my squad members got appendicitis. He complained that he has a tummy ache, but we thought that he is just lazy. After all, he went to the tents to rest, and he lied there with his head out of the tent. About an hour later, I went to check out his condition, and before I reached to tent, I heard vomiting. This was very concerning, since his head wasn't out of the tent anymore. That stupid guy vomited on my sleeping bag! And the tent smelled like hell, so I had to sleep in a sort of tepee, which was full of mosquitos. And couple of days later, the vomiter's brother cut a deep wound in his finger with a saw. After that camp, the brothers' parents made them stop boy scouting. Which was nice. Longinius 1 Posted July 30, 2002 LOL... I used to be in the boy-scouts to. Got some good memories from back then. Me and a friend always took it to the extremes and went a bit militaristic on everyone else. We used to go on nightly raids against competing squads; sabotaging tents, hiding boots... It was fun. We also had this game where you took a stick and sharpened one end. You then stood opposit eachother, distance varied, and the object was to throw the stick into the ground as close to the other guys foot as possible. The other guy then moved his foot to the stick, picked it up and threw it back. The guy that could go on the longest without falling / not reaching the stick won. This was way fun, especially when you accidently hit the opponents foot. Since me and my friend always had combat boots, that wasnt an issue for us

He told us to move away, and then we had to advance to the cabin. He who first "made it" to the cabin's porch was the winner. Now you could think that that was stupid and dangerous, and so it was! R. Gerschwarzenge 0 Posted July 30, 2002 I don't know how most of the people make it alive through their childhood. The amount of doing stupid and dangerous things is so much higher for children than for adults. I don't know how many times I or some of my friends have fallen/jumped from a high altitude and not managed to break any bones. I wish my bones could take as much punishment as they could ten years ago. If I had to live through my childhood again I'd probably die. I still like climbing on top of buildings and stuff so I haven't learned enough from my mistakes.

ran 0 Posted July 30, 2002 lolol ... i've been monitor in a summer camp long time ago i would never send my children there , some of these places are soooo , erm .. how can i say that ... almost every morning we had to clean one or two bed sets cuz the little asshole who was on it pee-ed on it duing the last night , avoiding the food battles is a sport too ..... how many times did i have to take a shower to clean all that shit some of the outside activities are dangerous , i often was at that | | of the heartbrake when some smart ass was climbing a tree without any protection surprising two teenagers doing the thing ..... being obligated to eat shit food .... bad ambiance between children and monitors ..... the weight of all the responsabilities on your shoulders ... SUMMER CAMPS SUX FOR THE MONITORS i did that as summer work only to avoid some more "difficult" things like staying in a melon field all the summer to recolt these fucking fruits that you don't even have the right to eat but i think i should have taken that insteadof a fucking summer camp .... i think that my cop vocation comes from these summer camps
Tovarish 0 Posted July 30, 2002 "This one time, at band camp..." Hmm, let's see...didn't have summer camp in Cuba but used to go camping with my dad a lot, I remember my first hangover during one of those outings when we were fishing, I was 7 years old . Here in Canada I went to a summer camp for 3 weeks back in grade 7, when I lived in Newfoundland. That was fun as hell. I remember winning first-place ribbon in shooting (they had BB guns and I guess my schooling in Cuba helped) . I remember the beach where we swam was freaking cold! Then one of the councilors told me - "Jump in that little creek over there first, then go into the beach, that'll help"....the sadistic bastard was right, the water in the creeek was ice cold . timmy 0 Posted July 31, 2002 i once got bitten by a copperhead snake when i was 14 at camp, i was being a jackass and tried to get it to bite the stick that i was jabbing at its face. It got me in the front of my leg, right oppisite of where the achilles tendon is ( i was wearing sandals). It hurt like hell, and i was rushed to the hopital, which luckily wasnt too far away. And i lived In relation to R. Gerschwarzenge said, about kids being stupid, one of the stupidest things i did in my childhood, well i still am a "child"(17), was getting drunk last year and letting my friends talk me into jumping off an 80 foot rock into the water at night.. It is sort of a famous rock, called Chimney rock, at Lake Martin, Alabama. There are different heights people jump from, the heighest i had previously jumped from was about 50, and that was when i was sober I jumped from the top which is actually about 88 feet, and people have broken bones, and occasionally people die, usually drunk college kids Anyways i jumped and your suposed keep your arms close to your body so they dont break off on impact, which luckily i remembered. But didnt rememeber to point my toes. I broke my right ankle, and had a compound fracture in the end of my foot when i hit the water, I also almost drowned, because i was unconsious for a few seconds(i think i fainted from the pain or somthing ), that and the fact that i was extremely drunk. One of my friends was in the water about 15 feet to the side, ready incase this sort of thing happend ( i think he knew it was going to happen ). He got me onto the boat, and i went to the hospitol a few hours later. To this day my parents think that i tripped going down the stairs. Even though the bone in my foot was sticking out about 3 inches above the skin

I remeber last year i went to this camp and they had zip lining. That was very fun except for the fact that the people there arent too friendly. What happend was everyone had already jumped and went flying down the zip line except for me. The thing at the top (dont know the name of it) that lets you zip down looked crooked to me, so i said hey is this right? This lady came by and just pulled it a bit more onto the zip line and walked away. Then i went. Very fun. ON the way down i thought about what had just happend. All i could think was, bitch. Sure as hell didnt care about my safety. I remeber another time where they had a rock climbing wall and one of my friends went on it. Well he was real afraid of heights and we talked him into going up it. About 10 feet up hes like "ummm can i get down now?" The people got so pissed at him. But it was quite funny.
