URKET 0 Posted July 29, 2002 Two hours ago I bought OFP:R, and all 8 time I've tried to install it I get an error right at the end. It dosn't seem to recognise the file in the directory. I've done everything, reinstalled the origonal OFP, removed all the 3rd party addons from the folders, everything. I even copied that file from the resistance CD and put it in the directory but still no luck. I took a screen shot of the problem, so is there anyone who can help me? Guest Posted July 29, 2002 Please don't post images > 100 kb. Short answer to your problem: 1) Your CD-reader could be at fault 2) Your OFP:R CD could be damaged Moving to Troubleshooting

bn880 5 Posted July 29, 2002 You should try and use a different CD-ROM drive.
Mister Frag 0 Posted July 29, 2002 One suggestion from Codemaster Tech Support that has helped another member of these forums is to copy the entire CD contents to a temporary directory on the hard disk, and to run the installation program from there. It will still need to access the CD to verify that an original disk is present, but the files themselves will be read from your hard disk. There is no guarrantee that this will work, but it has helped at least one person.
Lazarus_Long 0 Posted July 29, 2002 Yup, that was me. This error nearly drove me insane, but the codemasters fix worked. Here's the thread.
URKET 0 Posted July 31, 2002 thanks for the help everyone. I coppied the contents of the CD to my 'Operation Flashpoint' directory and then ran the instilation and it worked... the game looks pretty sweet. Thanks again for the help
Mister Frag 0 Posted July 31, 2002 Copying the CD contents into your OFP directory is not a good way to do this, you should copy the files into a temporary directory instead. That way, you can delete the entire temporary directory when you are done, rather than having to figure out which files to delete from the OFP directory. Anyway, I'm glad you are up and running. Cheers!
URKET 0 Posted August 1, 2002 Before I copied the files to the computer I ran the setup and wrote down the folder names in which the files were being installed and where they were going to. So I only copied those specific folders/files. I did that and ran the program, it said I hadn't put in the correct access code. I ran the setup again and entered the code and now everything works fine .
PowerHour 0 Posted August 1, 2002 URKET...! I bought Resistance two days ago and it installed without a hitch. I was checking out some addons and started coming up with various problems so I said maybe she needs to be cleaned up and reinstalled. (I've tried a few good addons latley). I uninstalled everything, removed codemasters folder and uninstalled gamespy etc.. I had the same problem you did..up till 6am in morn trying to get it working. When Installing resistance it would quit at the same time (3/4 the way) cannot read htwl/data...blah blah.. I must have tried 8 times...grrrrrrr. I took the dam disc and cleaned it.. The next time I went through the full motions it friggin worked Fluke?? I did see some streaks on it. It's the only thing I did different and It didn't even sputter around the time where it quit before. That was some kind of fustratin...DOH!!! Good Luck all when havin probs like this..enough to drive ya up the wall and or maybe shit your pants ..lol Cheers Powerhour
