The u.s, land of the free?

While it had been predictable that civil rights would be suffering under 9/11 as it has announced itself in the patriot act, Bush now concretizes how total control and restriction of basic individual rights on freedom will look like. It seems the Bush administration is striving to form the western equivalent to the STASI state, as seen in the former eastern germany.

Under acronym "Tips" (Terrorism Information and Prevention System) Bush tries to form a "Citizen corps" whose task will be, among others, to spy on other americans to report for suspicious activities.

According to statements of the central of constitutional law in New York, about 1 informant keeping eyes and ears open for the government will come on 24 citizens in the pilot project. Therefore the snitch-quota will be higher in the US as it has ever been in the DDR.

The "Citizen Corps" will consist of five powerful divisions: The "CERT" (Community Emergency Response team), the Medical reserve Corps (group of employments for medical supply), the initiative Neighborhood Watch (neighbourhood monitoring), the "VIPS" (Volunteers in policy service) and "TIP" (Terrorism information and Prevention system).

The Bush administration envisions that all Americans putting about two years of their life into the service of the security of their country - in 4000 hours of service divided on their lifetime.

The administartion hopes to win primary people working in public areas or at interfaces between public area and privat life. Bus drivers, postmen, telephonists, truck drivers, electricity -, gas or water servicers, conductors, Ship crews and dock workers are to go with sharpened senses and the will through the world to call a particular number free of charge if somewhat seems suspicious to them.

Alone on the organsation "Citzen Corps" Bush intends to spend 560 Million US Dollar, but altogether budgets for "Home Defense" will be much bigger. The Department for national security as concepted by Bush will have about 170.000 employees, and will be extended to one of the biggest governmental Institutions within the U.S. A yearly budget of 37,4 Billion US $ is intended to be invested in it.

I think the U.S. under Bush is on it´s best way to go backwards in time, back to the days of an Edgar Hoover keeping blacklists of political opponents, an easy way to justify riddance of inconvenient adversaries in all classes of society. An environment where pompous asses, brown noses, intrusive slime balls and Peeping Toms have their magic hours and live up to the fullest. A witchhunt on different skin colors, religions or political beliefs is likely to be the result.

that will never pass through.

it is alread under scrutiny here. not many ppl know about this but closer it is to reality, the less support it will get. although idea seems to be tempting, there will be a lot of oppositions around it already.

and undoubtly, questions of 'reasonable privacy' will be thrown in, which usually means it will be knocked down faster than I can speak "ich bin dumbkopft"

So basically this is kinda like the coast guards Citizen spy thing. You know, where people watch at beaches and report anything unusual. I think some people might abuse it too.

What I have always wondered is how much money does the US actually have...I keep hearing were going to spend 800million dollars on this 40 billion on that. It just amazes me how much money we have.

We create the money ourselves. Thats the problem. It doesnt take anything for the higher-ups in our government to get rich. "Low on money? Lets just get on this laptop and write some more credits into my account!" I'll bet they have like a minimum money shortage allowance before its automatically refilled or something.

This is why money is so bad. People use it to get what they want while keeping everyone else from getting what they want at the same time. You can do anything in this country if you have enough money - which limits the ability to do anything you want to about five people.

I dunno, gross estimation

We just use money as an excuse, thats all. People wont do anything for a good cause unless they get something out of it.

Totally. Nothing can happen without money. Especially in the government. Big projects cant go underway without "The Funding". Well, what is this "funding"? A six digit figure on someones computer screen? A piece of plastic with a magnetic strip on it? A handfull of pieces of paper?

IMO I consider most of the guys in the government to be corrupted by money. Thats why I never want to become involved in politcs. For one it doesnt interest me and two i fear i would be corrupted by money. Now im not saying that if you become involved with politics you will be corrupted. I just think some guys think that way.

Average Citizen:HOW DARE YOU! You are creating a state of distrust and paranoia! It's like East Germany in the cold war and this is INTOLERABLE! mad.gif

American Politician: No, no. You have it all wrong smile.gif We are doing this to preserve freedom and democracy! They did it because they were evil communists!

Average Citizen: Ahhh! I see. Well then, that's ok! My friend, Bob, I saw him....

If you want a good story of what a to tataltirian American state would be like, read the novel K is for Killing. It invisions the US run by the KKK so naturaly you hav Kongress, Kapatil and all the other lovely evil K words. Im sure this is a story G.B. Bush reads all the time when he needs ideas. But wait theres more! Vote me and Ill give all good americans an M4A1 with a laser sight plus C4 and Indcenearay grenades so you can KILL all poeple that MAY be a threat to your security. Thats right! Has your freaky next door neighbour that is a MOSLEM been doing things that could be remotly linked to terrorism? Have they mentioned OSAM BIN LADEN? They must be evil AL QUEDA terrorists! Kill them! Kill all the homeless people! Kill all the coloured people! From the ashes we will make a glorious NAZI state! And I will be proud to be your Fuhrer! That kind of sounds like somethiong that could come from everybodys FAVOURITE President. You know he wants to be Hitler! Look at the way he waves his hands around. He really wants to be flinging them around like everybodies favourite Dictator! I wonder how much lead I would need to try and shoot George W. Bush from Australia? Hmmmm, maybe a bit too much. But if I used rocket propelled bullets that broke the speed of light!

Not wishing to hasten the impending Flamewar lurking just around the corner, but i feel i might as well add my little packet to the info dung-heap rapidly building up...

One thing that has always amused is that many americans (probably most) claim to fervently opposed to 'big government' (damn commies)

it is purported to be unmanagable and

increases levels of Bureaucracy in society, encourages corruption, is wasteful of hard earned tax dollars etc etc

and yet America hasd surely the most costly (and no doubt wasteful) tax funded organisation in the world

(or can anyone think of a bigger one?)

Bush plans to >increase< defence spending by $48Bn for the 'war on terror'

an INCREASE that is the size (or bigger)  of the biggest  euro-zone defence bugdets IN TOTAL

wow.gif

wow.gif  wow.gif

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THIS PEOPLE?

G.W. Bush Is NOT dedicated to smaller government

but rather the increased enrichment of the wealthiest state owned organisation (the world has ever seen ? )

SMALLER hasnt been in the vocabulary of the Washington ruling elite since Pearl Harbour.

PLUS the seperate 38 Billion or so for 'Homeland Defence' forces

(Isnt that what the Department or 'DEFENCE' is supposed to be for?)

(why dont they just call it 'The Department of far away Aerial attacks against 70's era third world tanks to topple regimes that give us a reason to, supported by small scale air mobile infantry landings off whichever aircraft carrier, amphib grp.

has the best burger joint, at CNN designated zones ,and a few plinky Submarines'

and have done with it?

Well ok maybe DOD for now. )

I think it would be smarter if we had people who had somehow proven themselves trustworthy that were doing this. I mean, if we just let every civilian spy on each other, which is really what it sounds like is being proposed, it would seriously infringe on civil rights. But if we had trained people who knew what they were looking for doing this, that would help.
