Two small things from Red Orchestra 2 that could improve ArmA 3 alot.

Recommended Posts

So i played Red Orchestra 2 again and noticed two things which could greatly improve infantry combat.

1. Make aiming deadzone both move your screen and your gun. This is one of the reasons so few people use it in ArmA, because it makes it harder to actually turn around.

2. If you hold the right mouse button to zoom, only make it hold your breath if you are in iron sights. As it seems, zooming is to simulate the actual accuracy of the eyes, and zoomed out to simply keep a higher FOV and not play through a tube constantly.

It is annoying to be out of breath once you actually spotted your target and need to zoom in again.

about 2. just do what i did. change the zoom buttom from whatever it is, to right mouse button and hold breath to shift(or whatever you want)

if you do use shift it'll say it'll conflict with something else but i believe that was something for vehicles which isn't that important anyway.

ArmA does this anyway?? Just set aiming deadzone to it's lowest setting. Voilà!

Although I feel as though they have broken the deadzone in A3. When putting it all the way up your character cannot turn completely around like you could in the other ArmA games. When you move your rifle to the end of your screen when you should turn, you just stop. It's quite sad really. Might have something to do with mouse acceleration. But I'm not sure, I haven't played A3 since the day the Alpha came out, so if it has changed my apologies.

Rebind hold breath key. Problem solved.

I use TAB.

And yes deadzone is completely broken. Nobody knows when it will get fixed.
