I have a hardon for 2011-2012 FSK and modern MJK as well as gulf of aden kit and would like to offer my help modeling and setting up the kits and weapons properly. I currently have a itl nseas model which I would like help converting to a usable arma 3 type. I can remake this in a smaller version as now it is 98% of the real size. Str-ke 10 Posted April 8, 2014 Hello! I am currently employed in the Norwegian Air Force and I'm working on a recruitment/training project that will use commercial ARMA 3 instead of VBS. At the moment it is more a proof of concept type work that I am doing on my private time, so I am only in the early phase of learning how to retexture infantry and add new classes to A3. Part of this introductionary phase is to check the community for already released addons. It seems to me that project NorFor for A2 was abandoned early, before OA was released. The other norwegian forces projects also seem abandoned so maybe it's time to scrape together everything that has been made already and combine it into a single pack. I suggest to name the pack "NAF" or Norwegian Armed Forces, and start by doing the basics such as creating a plan on how to release the content and what kind of goals we wish to achieve. The next logical step would be to ask everyone who has made something we can use for permission such as previous NorFor content, swedish/danish forces content etc, weapon packs, equipment etc and implement it into our mod. Finally the process of creating each weapon branch with typical units, groups etc and retexturing everything to suit our needs, compile and release to the community. Personally I'll use it for my project at work in a non-profit way. I am only looking to learn new skills in modding and giving something to the ARMA 3 community to play around with. I'd like to see multi-national scenarios and missions, just like in real life! For a very first release alpha to the community I'd like to have these things implemented: -Norwegian Army units (maybe Telemarksbataljonen) with current weapons and equipment with the Norwegian desert camo. -Norwegian Light/Medium vehicle such as the IVECO LMV or SISU. Alternatively a reskin of the A3 MRAP (M-ATV). Then we could focus on expanding to vehicles such as the CV90 and perhaps a Bell B412 in Medevac and Escort versions. Eventually the ultimate goal would be to add all branches of the NAF to create a large pack. Lucky for us, the norwegian armed forces are relatively small compared to it's counterparts, which leaves less units/addons to create. If there are any people in the same shoes as I (to learn modding/want to contribute in something larger) please reply to this thread. scajolly 14 Posted April 10, 2014 There are a number of areas where Norwegian units could be made for A3 without needing to build from scratch. The most important and prolific nowadays is arguably the CV9030. The 30mm would need work because it is not in use by the Dutch - who've made one for A2 - and not by the Swedes in SAM, who've done some A-grade work on a new CV9040 but with lids heavily shut. I don't know if the SAM people have any intention of releasing what they've made. Personally I consider the best option for Norwegian modders to be to go for a few 1985-1995 era vehicles and equipment, simply because so much already exists, AND of course because that's arguably where so much of the fun resides - bashing russkies! The statement about existing addons is easily true for A2, but a bit more difficult to prove for A3. Sure, small arms and up - AG3, MG3, RFK 84, M72, Glock, MP5, so on, those aren't outright problematic. It's vehicles that could be difficult, but which would really make a Norwegian mod stand out. There's the Leo 1, which the Brazil mod seems eager to bring to A3 (I believe it looks like an A1 port). AFAIK BWM has no intention of bringing a Leo 1 into A3, although theirs would be the finest if they did. Some texture and Oxygen work on the A1 port could make both an 1A1 and a 1A5NO, if permissions were gained. The Leo 2A4 is something I've not seen either - only seen hints of a BWM 2A6. Tricky. There's the F-35B A2 port, which Chortles has made some positive indiciations will be re-texturable. I think it's a B version, so that might be difficult to align with reality unless some config work is also permitted. The most interesting to me is the NM135, which is an M113 hull with a slightly reworked turret from the Swiss Schutzenpanzer 63, along with an Rh 202 20mm cannon and MG3. An M113 A2 port licensed APL would be a fantastic basis for some weeks of Oxygen work. Similarly, but perhaps a bit harder to add, is the NM125 with the mortar. A third mainstay of Panserbataljonen was the NM142 with the Kværner launcher for TOW missiles. Probably as 'easy' to make as the NM135, Oxygen-wise. Combine the Leo and those three M113A2-derivatives and you'd have PnBn. Magical. As for aircraft, A2 features wicked F-5 and F-16 addons. Those'd be the backbone of a proper Norwegian mod that spanned the eighties or early nineties, and I'm sure it's not long until there's an F-16 for A3. Don't worry, I'll get an infantry only version out soon enough. Once that is finished, I'll get working on other, more important stuff :) I'll post some more screenshots as I go along, but for now I am working at my own pace, dedicating time to the mod when I can. The best is to work discretely in the start phase and start creating a thread/hype when the first content pack it's 90% done. Meanwhile, here is a new shot with Massi weapons. I havn't touched anything other than worked with different backpacks, faces and now showing the HK416 from massis NATO_Russian_SF_Weapons. So now you can see people like "Fritjof Nansen" or "Ola Nordmann" ingame :) Of course I have some more usual names aswell! It wouldn't be as good if your squadmembers were called Nicolas Papodopolous or Stavros Kalipso and were members of the NAF. Yes that was clever of you to ask! I was building my mod with the @NAF prefix, but since you've already taken the prefix I'll swap mine to NORAF instead!
