Some things to consider for the art, sound, and cinematic effect department

I've noticed a few things when taking down helicopters (I've taken down my fair share with the RPG-47's AA rockets). I would add a smoke trail and potentially a cabin fire to helicopters that get shot down by a rocket. As far as I've seen, the props just "disappear" while you gracefully glide the helicopter in for a crash landing. There needs to be more of an intense explosion and smoke trail when you get hit.

I would also consider a -50% health reduction to the pilot and crew when hit by a rocket. This makes it so the chances of surviving a rocket impact and crash landing slim.

I would also consider "lock-on" alarms for modern vehicles. Especially those with counter-rocket flares and things the sort. There is just no way to tell whether or not you're about to be shot down.

Your thoughts? These are just minor recommendations. I know there are bigger things to be dealt with.

Quiet interesting. Thought about some things like these too. There should also be an "damaged Vehicle" sound, like the main helicopter sound but sounding totally damaged, restless and about to totally collapse. So like flying the helicopter and as soon as you get hit the damage sound comes in, loud alarm. You hear things and pieces flying in the inside of the helicopter, a synthetic voice appears saying "WARNING", you can hear the transmission is having a hard time keeping the rotor to turn. There should be some flames spinning out of the turbines of the helios, flames and smoke. And maybe there should be something like a "in between Up and Down" option for damage. Like a fine helicopter is flying, a destroyed on is not, but there should be something in between! Something like it is still flying but slowly going down. But you can still turn or maneuver a bit to maybe even find a good landing place. Just like when the tail rotor is falling apart and you loss it, but still can fly! That would be AWESOME! I know it worked in A2, but never on AA missile, just when you directly hit the rotor with big ammo types. But imagine you want to shoot down a Heli and you hit him, but see the pilot fighting with the damaged thing now, trying to find a good landing place or keep it in the air at least Oo

But well, one thing I would like to see changed is that crashing (not shot down) Helicopters are always just blow up. I know they are heavily armed and shit, but there should also be an option of just a crashlanding. With just smoke in the end. No damn explosion all the time^^ Like:

It is so disturbing and fascinating the same time somehow. Even the grinding transmission at the end is louder than the helicopter itself!

Yeah that video was pretty fascinating. I'm sure we'll see some cinematics to come. The current animation can't be the one they plan to ship with

I think in most cases if a helicopter crash lands, it more or less disintegrates rather than out and out exploding.

I would even push further to say that the launchers in this game need more of a considerable back blast explosion. As an 0351 in the Marine Corps, I can say that the SMAW itself sends quite an impressive back blast out the rear end. It's simply a large explosion, sending fragmentation 100 meters back. Heck, if this is a simulation.. integrate burn damage to players/entities that come in contact with any kind of back blast.

Would only make sense, and would get rid of the silly CoD/Battlefield noob tubing.

Edit: Then again, nothing about Arma warrants close quarters fighting. Just some food for thought though.

Helicopter crash liek dis?

It would definitely be awesome, and make the piloting aspect of the game a lot more dynamic and interesting. Just imagine, an rpg slamming into your tail rotor and you fighting for every inch of height that you can keep, trying to make the crash as soft as possible. Then, if you survive it, climb out of the wreck and try to evade capture!

I also hope we see the damaged aircraft polished up some, but hopefully some of that will come when we get the real flight models and such. As it is right now you can bounce off of obstacles, so I assume and hope we'll see it improved before launch.

I'd really love for smoke to play a bigger part in the game in general. Using the smoke from a wreck to track a downed helicopter would be sweet.
