camper 0 Posted July 16, 2002 I saw the screenshots and Dragon Empire's engine looks as the OFP one but much better.. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">The world of Dragon Empires is alive with a complex environment that dynamically responds to inputs of temperature, humidity and air pressure. The sun heats and evaporates the ocean causing clouds to form over land. Rain falls over the tropical forest and the changes in weather patterns are noticeable across the world. Steamy rainforests give way to arid deserts, to cool woodlands and frozen wastes. Climb to the top of the loftiest peaks and see the clouds form and drift with the breeze in the valley below. Look out to sea and watch a storm front approach and change as it hits land. All of this is in the world of Dragon Empires.<span id='postcolor'> very very very improved... I heard that basically is ofp engine.. is right? Greest PD: I've searched for this topic and there aren't results
Hidden 0 Posted July 16, 2002 It is a bit OT but sounds very cool anyway! I have always wanted to see something like that in a game, actual weather changing like i.r.l. Never heard it had anything to do with the OFP engine though. And I doubt OFP 2 will anywhere near it. If those dragon peeps are not just bigmouths anyway. I have a hard time believing that kind of hype.

EveronVetsAgainstTheWar 1 Posted July 16, 2002 Codemaster's Dragon Empires Site Second and last screens look a lot like Flashpoint... lemme see if I get get more info. I signed up for thier newsletter like 6 months ago when I was trying to get into game betas. EDIT: Got this from their faq What kind of world engine does Dragon Empires run? Dragon Empires uses a custom, fractal-based engine that is used to build and create the world.
ralphwiggum 6 Posted July 16, 2002 hhmm..i wonder if that is OFP engine based fractal engine. the graphics are stunning(wonder how they would run in average pcs).
EveronVetsAgainstTheWar 1 Posted July 16, 2002 Some other screens show some blander textures and low poly models (very simmilar to OFP) My bet is codemaster bullied BIS into giving them the engine.
Tex -USMC- 0 Posted July 16, 2002 too bad theyre wasting that beautiful engine on a game where a fireball is considered a long range weapon.
Jester983 0 Posted July 16, 2002 Those are some sweet graphics. Did they happend to say when it might be released?
EveronVetsAgainstTheWar 1 Posted July 16, 2002 Winter 2002. Â Same as Asherons Call 2. Â Which, in my opinion, has better graphics. Asherons Call 2 screenshots: Images > 100 kb removed. One was over 400 kb. One more violation and I'll close this thread. Please stick to the rules.
walker 0 Posted July 16, 2002 Oooh! prety prety eye candy. munch munch goble goble Of course BIS are licencing their Game Engine thats how you get more money! Codemasters are their publishers so they will be the most likely people to be publishing other games with the Game Engine. But have you thought what this will mean for OFP2? Umh! yum yum

I can barely use high terrain detail in OFP:R and that with a P-IV 1.8, 512 RIMM and a GF4Ti4600
EveronVetsAgainstTheWar 1 Posted July 17, 2002 Sorry about those images denoir... wasnt paying attention. I hope OFP2 looks better than that considering Dragon Empires is coming out this year. And I hope Suma didn't take offense to the bland texture/low poly thing. It was in reference to the other real high quailty screenshots.

Why would it be bullied? Guess it doesn't really matter since Suma stated that it wasn't shared tech. COLINMAN
