oxmox 73 Posted March 25, 2013 (edited) - before internet our source of information were : media (newspapers, tv) and movies, One of the biggest strength is, that the internet provides a huge advantage when it comes to history knowledge. Take here wikipedia for example, you get such a great overview with all the links and sources. Before the Internet you had to invest a lot more time. You would either be a history student or you would need to read massive amounts of books plus the ability to connect the knowledge to get an overview. You can search for very specific and detailed parts of events, reputeable books are of course still an important source. Mattar_Tharkari 10 Posted March 26, 2013 How is any of this relevant to the thread? While hearing about life in Poland is very interesting, I started this thread to discuss the film Argo, the Iranian legal action and to warn of possible implications for Arma 3. Please try to keep posts relevant. I don't think people based their view of life behind the Iron Curtain on movies, a basic search of news, reports from defectors and escapers and images will show there was much more. In Berlin they were shooting people dead just for trying to leave? That says it all, you don't need a movie to shape your opinion any more than that! I suggest buying a copy of "Kolejka" (queue) if you want to re-live the past: http://www.dw.de/new-board-game-recreates-daily-life-of-communist-times/a-14816992 A new board game in Poland hopes to recreate the poverty, black market, martial law and long queues of communist times. NoRailgunner 0 Posted March 26, 2013 What's the latest status on Iran going to sue over "unrealistic portrayal"? Did those unhappy officials found out that such an action can/will backfire on them?? Or was it just another kind of sabber-rattling against US?
Mattar_Tharkari 10 Posted March 26, 2013 Nothing new to report since the announcement, as soon as something happens I will post.

Remember, the internet is only a source of liberty so long as we defend it. Don't let your govt control and monitor your internet access.
