HELP Gtx690 :(

Recommended Posts

The game isn't optimized yet, this is an alpha(unfinished and unpolished game), please be patient. None of us can play it smoothly yet.

I am running a GTX 670 and the game is a lot smoother if you turn off the following: AA, FXAA, and post prepossessing, and turn down the view distance.

Whilst everyone has to remember obviously it is an alpha, coming into threads just to keep pointing that out is pretty pointless, it doesn't mean that just because it's an alpha there aren't tweaks that can be tried to improve performance etc, so if you know any for the OP (and others) post them, if not then there's no point replying :)

Its not just you.

I have 2 x 580 with i52500K @ 4.5 Ghz and usage while SLI enables is around 20 - 30 for each GPU. If I disable SLI I have usage on enabled GPU 50 - 60.

I read that disabling PIP could help http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?147730-Advanced-performance-investigation-%28data-needed%29 . Didn't try it yet. Will try tonight.

easiest way to improve performance is reducing viewdistance and model detail. 1.5k viewdistance, 1k model viewdistance and standard objects quality should get you great performance, at least in singleplayer.

with 680 sli, latest beta driver, sli forced and all to ultra, rend 150%, viewdistance max fps are unstable, from 15 to 50 fps

Post updated.

The key for optimum performance is in my opinion a high monitor refresh rate and stable FPS (rather than high). I also have the GTX690 and use it on very demanding sims too. Latest alpha improved performance with application controlled settings but my recomendation is to use the following NVIDIA global or game profile settings if have problems:

Note: MultiGPU method should be used either for processing overall graphics or to process Antialias, but not both at the same time

- MultiGPU performance and physics processor automatic (but don´t check "dedicate to physics" if you selected one of the cards as physics processor)

- Antialias (8x or above but not MultiGPU ones; you can also leave it as application controlled if you want)

- MultiGPU mode --> Alternative method 2 (this is AFR2 method)

- Refresh rate (if available for your monitor in the panel) --> highest possible

- Texture filtering --> max quality, 16x and clamp

- Pre-rendered frames --> 4

- Vsync --> on or on (smooth)

- Triple buffer --> on

- Ambient oclusion --> quality (nice light effects, but this is optional)

Finally adjust Arma3 settings to ultra except terrain view distance (5000m is even crazy), object view distance (2000m or higher has impact on FPS) and maybe objects/terrain detail (leave it on very high or high). Those are the most demanding items in adition to PIP (the mirrors).

This NVIDIA config is applying a kind of adaptive Vsync (the Vsync smooth one) that will limit FPS to 1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 of your monitor refresh rate (depending on workload) but as a difference to adaptive Vsync, keeping Vsync allways on (no tearing) and resulting in veeeery stable FPS (no stuttering) and nice images cause the transitions to FPS steps are smooth. It also helps both cards to work smoother and you can use both GPUs for games that don´t support it by default instead of leaving one sleeping.

As an alternative you can use MultiGPU for antialias instead of for graphics processing, but in Arma 3 it does not help so much I think.

The best is to have a good monitor such as BenQ XL2411T 24 LED 3D 120Hz (indeed works at 144Hz) cause then the image gosthing is reduced a lot and you will get 144, 72, 48, 36 or 29 FPS.

Give it a try and enjoy the beast :cool:
