das attorney 858 Posted March 5, 2013 They haven't released DS files yet. Use the -server switch.
Vigil Vindex 64 Posted March 5, 2013 They haven't released DS files yet. Use the -server switch. When you launch using the "-server" switch it still runs through Steam. So if you are trying to run a dedicated server and a game client on the same pc Steam give an error saying the game is already running.

Vigil Vindex 64 Posted March 5, 2013 I Guess i'll wait for the DS to appear on STEAM! I am surprised they are not available yet. Hopefully they will appear on Steam soon or a thread gets made to provide info. Strange too there is no dedicated server guide thread of arma 3 alpha. bensch 1 Posted March 5, 2013 You need to buy arma 3 alpha currently for a dedicated server. you can initialize the dedicated server in the parameter of steam with "-server". Its works fine with a root server.
Smurf 12 Posted March 5, 2013 No real dedicated servers for the Alpha.
Jest 10 Posted March 5, 2013 (edited) Also most ArmA2 command line parameters still work, as well as cfg file settings. Only one -server can be ran at a time per Steam account. If there is any needs for dedicated server file testers, I'd gladly participate, NDA if needed. -server works very well so far for Alpha status, great work! No crashes and no obvious bugs to report. Edit: got a crash from playing stock missions, where do we send the mdmp and RPT files for bug reporting? Edited March 6, 2013 by Jest
