Supporter Edition DLC Includes?

Recommended Posts

I searched and couldn't find this exact information I am wanting and want to be direct about this. The supporter Edition says you get all future arma DLC but as I look at Arma 2 all the DLC requires the standalone version Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead.

Does this mean we have to buy a second standalone (if one is made) in order to get the DLC? or will there not be another standalone version for sure (or does that count as dlc in this case). If something like this was already made then close the thread but I cannot find it.

Still not clear, but as I read it the supp. edition will cover all future DLC's regardless of their prerequisite (stand alone expansion or not).

P.S.

If you guys post "this will be locked shortly" at least give the person asking a hint or redirect him/her to the proper thread.

This thread will be locked shortly but to answer your question - that's just a chance you have to take.

All Arma 3 DLCs does NOT include expansions or sequels.

So it means you get DLCs like ACR, BAF, PMC etc. but not the expansion(s) like Arrowhead in Arma 3.

We don't even know if there will be an expansion a la OA in Arma 3.

But I have to believe that they wouldn't promise free DLC to us Supporters and then make us buy an expansion before we can even use them. Not that us Supporters wouldn't be happy to buy it, but still.

I think BIS knows the expansion model in Arma 2 wasn't ideal. They had to do it because they wanted to implement new engine features, but it ended up causing a lot of confusion among people with the different versions of the game, and running OA with A2 in tandem etc.

I'd bet money that they won't do another 'standalone expansion' but instead will just update their game if they want to add new engine features, and it will be free.

Supporter Edition gives you an indefinite Season pass for all DLCs for the vanilla game - ArmA III, if any are going to be released at all during the game's lifespan.

Personally, I don't see any real value in purchasing either the DDE or SE bundles...why?, the only 2 things i might have interest in is the Tactical Guide and the DLC (both of which there is zero information about to really know what I am going to be paying for upfront and whether or not im really going to want it/like it), but the pricing structure seems to offer no advantage in pre purchasing anyway, or at least it would seem so.

If you're new to the franchise and want to play the older games being given to you with those bundles then fine, theres more value....or if you plan on gifting old games away.

As for paying for a digital soundtrack...why would anyone want this as long as its already in the game anyway?....and paying for a PDF of the game maps is only for the most hardcore or those who hang posters...but in any case isn't worth an extra $15+ dollars to me.

For me, as it stands, the only package that makes any sense is the "bare bones" ALPHA bundle in this case. I can pick and choose which DLC I really want and still save plenty of cash over the SE bundle I'm sure.

Just my own thought and feelings about it.

A lot of the motivation behind purchasing the Supporter Edition is not about value. It's about supporting BIS by paying them what we think they deserve. Of course I don't need any of the things included. The DLC is the only thing that has any actual "value" to me, but that's not the important part of my decision to support BIS.

It is perfectly clear, Support Edition includes any future DLCs but not expansions. As vegeta says, none of us NEED what SE gives us over and above DD, but it's a cool way of splashing more cash if customers want to.

well, all who purchase anything from BIS are supporting them...BUT, for someone wanting to make a donation then I'd say yes the SE edition is a nice choice.

Just curious really. Even if it's clear it's not at the same time but either way the question is pretty much answered here and it's obvious that supporter edition is more of a donation. I do hope it's only dlc though because standalone does split the population as said in a previous comment.

I'm curious about that. Will we see another Operation Arrowhead? Or will they stay in the Vanilla game only? To keep the community intact.

I think i've read or heard something about the matter in an interview. I might be wrong though. i'll try to look it up.

edit: I think i was wrong.

This is exactly what I am doing it for. (Supporter Edition) For me it is just a plus to have all those extra bundled items. Having my name in the credits once the full release comes out is a cool idea to me as well, whether you think it's dumb or not. I like to support games that I like!

You know...in a way I feel kinda bad for some of the 3rd party developers who get nothing at all in their pockets. I mean nothing against Bohemia here, but they at least get paid with every sale of the game and are making a full time living at it for the last 12+ years.

To my way of thinking, if it wasn't for our beloved 3rd party developers the Flashpoint/Arma franchise probably would have died before Arma1 ever came to market. With addons/mods such as CTI/Warfare, AcE, EVo, CAA1, Mando's, CBA, sound mods, effects mods, new & old island addons, and lets not forget about the amazing work of DAC 3.0 and Kronzky's Urban Patrol Script...and the list goes on and on...

Without some of these addons most of the missions I've made would not have been possible...and I sincerely believe that without all these folks and their hard work we would all have nothing today but alot of garbage shelved games that you get tired of after a few weeks.

it would be nice if there were some sort of organization setup with a pool fund of sorts for these guys...or perhaps we could simply contribute/donate to individuals we choose, but I feel a pool fund so all get a share is a better idea.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the distinction between DLC and expansion packs for A3. Using A2 as an example, BAF/ACR/PMC would be free, but OA would not be?

Correct.

There's only 1 standalone expansion for ArmA II and it is Operation Arrowhead.

has this distinction between DLC and expansion packs been explicitily outline somewhere, or is everyone speculating? to me DLC is just that - downloadable content. heck arma 3 is technically DLC because we'll all download it digitally

arma3.com/buy

Mouse over "ALL FUTURE ARMA 3 DLCs" -> "IF ANY, does not apply to standalone expansions, or sequels". Pretty explicit.

If you do the math it is actually quite a nice deal.

ArmA2 had three DLCs (BAF, PMC, and ACR) (only one of which I liked, but that's besides the point. I purchased them all) and each of them were priced at $15.00 USD. So, that is $45.00 spent on DLCs. Through the supporter edition, you wouldn't have to pay that. Now of course yes, you are paying quite a bit more for it than the other versions. But you also have to account for the fact that you are getting ArmA X (which has the ENTIRE series and all the DLC) and CWA.

Yeah.

I think this DLC deal could've been included in Digital Deluxe to make it more attractive: 1 or 2 free DLC pass, or something similar - not on All, like in Supporter Ed.

I was curious about that too, and also, I wonder how frequently DLC's will be released, hopefully it wont be a hugely long wait in-between content!

well they did put this on the store page:

All future Arma 3 DLCs

If any, does not apply to standalone expansions or sequels.

In my opinion not promising enough really but that's just because I have no real reason to spend near $100 on the game. I'll buy them as I go since dlc isn't enough for me to buy the supporter and older games as a bonus lack interest from me as i will be playing Arma III only.
