Harnu 0 Posted June 23, 2002 Is that what you run OFP on now?
LBGS_Stewart 0 Posted June 23, 2002 as far as i know any machine that runs OFP now will run reistance. but if you want more detail. the more detail you want the biger system you need but if you like the detail in OFP now i dont think there is needed for any upgrading to a system. but i am not shure eather
Duke_of_Ray 0 Posted June 24, 2002 Yes this is what I run OFp on.
Harnu 0 Posted June 24, 2002 IF thats what you run OFP on now, I'm sure you will have no trouble with resistance.
Darkhawk 0 Posted June 24, 2002 This is from the Official Resistance web site: Recommended system requirements: Operation Flashpoint, Windows XP/2000/98, Direct X 8.1, 256 MB RAM, 733 MHz CPU, 1 GB HDD
Guest Posted June 24, 2002 wow a hole gig of HD space! Damn this game is gonna have a crapload of textures!

InqWiper 0 Posted June 24, 2002 Could they mean that OFP+Red Hammer+Resistance will require 1GB? Cuz it sounds kinda crazy if only resistance would add another 1GB, thats like a whole new game...or 2...
munger 25 Posted June 24, 2002 Duke, if you want to see the best of Resistance you'll need to upgrade that TNT2 card to a hardware T&L capable one as Resistance has graphical options which will only display when that mode is activated (sunlight reflecting on water/weapons etc, plus quite a lot of other stuff). NEO -PZ- 0 Posted June 24, 2002 I better ask the question here too... How do we think the OFP:R graphics will be with nVidia GeForce 2 MX?
Satchel 0 Posted June 24, 2002 Just as in the original game, i think OFP:R graphics will be scalable to suit your computer capabilities. Before upgrading to a Geforce 3 i too had Geforce 2 MX, but it seems a faster processor and more RAM have an greater impact on basic OFP performance, than a new GPU would. Not that OFP wasn´t faster after the upgrade, just not as fast as expected when compared to other games like Medal of Honor, where the G3 delivered an incredible performance boost. As OFP:R will utilize some new graphic routines according to interviews to suit newer cards, graphic cards supporting these features in Hardware will benefit from it, making the game faster and better looking overall i guess. Generally if you want a faster OFP experience get a faster Processor and more RAM, as it is yet to be seen what graphic features OFP:R will support exactly and if a G2MX would be sufficent to cover all new features in hardware, my guess is it will be sufficent, assuming you got decent CPU and at least 256MB ram. Duke_of_Ray 0 Posted June 24, 2002 So what should I upgrade my tnt2 to? Is 800mhz good?
WKK Gimbal 0 Posted June 24, 2002 In the original OFP, it seems that AI and their movement is what takes up most CPU, so unless you play big battles with 100's of soldiers, the 800mhz should do fine. The tnt graphics card lacks some of the features from the geforce series which help alot in newer games like OFP, so upgrading to any geforce card should improve performance. But if you're getting a new one, you might aswell go for geforce 3 or 4. The name brand of the card doesn't matter so much. Practically all geforce cards use the same components, they just put their brand labels on it.
EveronVetsAgainstTheWar 1 Posted June 24, 2002 Since Oprah will have a larger island with high res textures, better trees, more buildings and so forth, I assume its gonna require a more powerful processor. It's only logical. Im upgrading for resistance
Duke_of_Ray 0 Posted June 25, 2002 So would a geforce 2 be a good card to get?
munger 25 Posted June 26, 2002 Depends on your budget. If you don't have much to spend a GF2 MX will still cut the mustard for OFP, although don't expect to play in super-high res with all options to max. If you have more to play with I'd go for something like a GF3 Ti200 (a cut down GF3). If you have the big bucks, the current king of the graphics card hill is the GF4 Ti4600. Bear in mind though that there's always something faster about to be released, and that you'll pay a disproportionate amount to get the best there is. Hit_Sqd_Maximus 0 Posted June 26, 2002 Im on a GF2mx400 64mg and I run the game at 1024x768x32 w/ all the options maxed in the preferences. So if you are wanting to spend under 100 bucks it would be perfect
Guest Posted June 26, 2002 As long as you have a video card capable of T&L and a 600mz+ CPU you should be fine. Now can someone lone me some money so I can afford a Radeon 8500 128mb GPU?
zverushka 0 Posted June 26, 2002 LOL- A GF2 MX is like five bucks, not a hundred. I'm getting myself a GF4 Ti4400
