RED 0 Posted June 23, 2002 I have 2 PC's with there own copies of OFP. If I buy 1 copy of OFPR will it work on both PCs without fading my games (one of the PCs is a dedicated server) I just want to know if I will need to order 2 copies or not. *waits for Avon to point me to the FAQ* RED
Placebo 29 Posted June 23, 2002 That's a fair question, I would guess that as it's an addon it will require the original serial number from Opf to install, thus you would only need one copy of Opf:R, but as I said it's only a guess so not overly helpful
theavonlady 2 Posted June 23, 2002 Legally, you need to order 2 copies. Practically, that another question altogether. For example, take the Gold Upgrade. With one Upgrade CD, you could install on multiple machines. The main thing here was that you have the Original OFP CD wherever you want to play. Now with resistance, the bottom line of CM's latest Resistance press release says "Operation Flashpoint: Resistance requires the original game to play". Sounds like one copy of OFPR can be installed mutiple times, like RH.
Casto 0 Posted June 23, 2002 if i were you i would get a legal and illegal version. the illegal version will be legal because you are allowed to have a (back up) copie of game as long as you use it for yourself. correct me if im wrong.
Placebo 29 Posted June 23, 2002 Mentioning illegal copies of Opf on this forum puts you on very dangerous ground, a wise person would refrain.
Casto 0 Posted June 23, 2002 i understand that, but i think its quite legal to make a back up copie. but like i said correct me if im wrong.

Avon, you should know better then giving technical advice on the possibility of using illegal copies.
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted June 23, 2002 But its perfectly legal as you said.

Guest Posted June 23, 2002 The back up copy is only to be used if your original one breaks. That is the whole point of a back up copy. You may not use both original and the back up, installing them on different computers. That is illelgal.

Why else would the dedicated server have a no-cd feauture ?
RED 0 Posted June 23, 2002 The strange thing with that is, That some guy I know ran an OFP dedicated server over his LAN and played with the same CD key on that server and it caused FADE on his game. I can't be assed to format my PC. So I will try and avoid that A word from BIS wouldn't go amiss here. RED
Kermit 0 Posted June 23, 2002 I'm not sure about this, but I do not think that Bohemia Interactive Studios is responsible for the stupid Fade thing and making us buy two copies of everything. I think it is the publisher, Codemasters, that does things like that.
