Render Issues

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have windows Vista x32bit and I have been playing Arma 2 and OA for about two months. I noticed combined operations was not working so I reinstalled arma 2 and OA in order. I joined a game which then the sky had grey spots, I could see through half of someone and a grey wall that i could walk through appeared. I have the steam copy. Please respond soon. I also have the steam copy. I've already reinstalled and I and done the -winxp.

Try deleting your Arma2.cfg/arma2oa.cfg and see if that helps (when you run the game it will automatically create new ones)

are you running the latest drivers for your gpu? the one that comes with vista might be ancient.

I have switched to windows 7 and I am still having the same problem. Same computer. I am downloading the GPU drivers now.

Are you sure your card isn't overheating? That looks like massive artifacting to me.

I don't think so. However, my computer is on mostly 24/7. How will I check for over heating my computer is not hot.

I think usually gpus have temperature sensors you can get software to read, if your drivers aren't reading it for you. The trial version of Everest will do it, I think. Others may have better suggestions.

GPU-Z

GPU Core Clock [MHz]
519.0
GPU Memory Clock [MHz]
495.0
GPU Temperature [°C]
55.0

32
GPU Load [%]
0
Memory Usage (Dedicated) [MB]
54
Memory Usage (Dynamic) [MB]

VDDC [V]

I think this is wrong. No smoke......

55 degrees celsius is actually very low for a gpu running under load. Try running the game for a short bit and checking GPU-Z.

Also it will not allow me to run oa because of a pixelated error. and a bin problem.

65 degrees I think is right on track.

I was going to say that perhaps your game is corrupted but it really could be a wide range of hardware and software problems. I guess we can try the following:

check and make sure other games and / or video stress tests behave normally.

Check and make sure your gpu is seated properly in its slot

uninstall your drivers completely and reinstall them

uninstall your game completely and reinstall it

L its myike I said I went and deleted my partian and got windows 7 64bit same problem. I guess its my video card. Radeon 2400 pro hd. Standard issue. In three weeks after my vacation I am buying a nice video card. What would be a good but >$160 video card that can run on very high or high without lag?

I wouldn't recommend that card when you can get a Radeon 6870.

The 6870 is 20% more powerful in OA and 20% cheaper ($150 instead of $170).

But if your budget can stretch to $180 you could grab a Gefroce GTX 560 Ti and they're 10% faster than the 6870.

its a matter of preference really i guess ;>

i'd never go for an ati card ever again... over the last 15 years i did it twice and both times it was a nightmare for me.

the drivers are just too screwed up (speaking only from personal experience, others may disagree)

nvidia has never let me down no matter how many screens in whatever configuration i wanted to run.

as for 550 vs 560 ... not sure if either performance will really be fully stretched out for the next couple of years.

my gtx460 plays arma2 and any other game out there right now maxed out (minus pp cause i dont like bloom or motion blur) very smooth though i do notice the ram is a bit low at 768mb. so a 2gb gtx 550 or 560 should see you well sorted for a while.

I can't speak from personal experience but I've seen a LOT of posts around here about AMD/ATI cards not playing too nicely with A2/OA.

Mmk... I have seen alot of reviews and have talked to my nerd friends and found that the GTX 550 is the best choice for me but I might have to buy a new power supply.

I have one such card and there are no issues.
