.kju 3245 Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) RotorLib is a complete helicopter dynamics middleware for tactical simulations, flight training devices and simulators. It can be easily integrated to Windows or Linux based simulations and is programmable with C++. See RotorLib CGF and RotorLib FDM. Website: http://www.rtdynamics.com/v2/wp/ YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/rtdynamics#p/u This system what ToH is based on / makes use of. It might be useful for you realism guys to understand the possibilities and limits of the FM: http://www.rtdynamics.com/v2/wp/2008/helicopter-games/ Thanks to Master85 for the info. :bounce3: PS: The list of scripting commands available in ToH might give you a better idea too: BIKI: Category:Scripting Commands Take On Helicopters Edited October 10, 2011 by .kju [PvPscene]

EagleEye-GER- 0 Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) So, ToH is using "RotorLib CGF® is a real-time C++ SDK for simulating rotary wing computer generated forces" or RotorLib FDM® (flight dynamics model) is a real-time C++ helicopter flight dynamics simulation library for flight training devices and flight simulators? RotorLib FDM® RotorLib FDM rotor model uses a combinationof momentum theory and a simplified form of blade element theory. This model produces forces and torques but also information regarding induced velocity and rotor wake. The latter are used by other models (such as fuselage model) to simulate interference effects. Rotor model takes wind and ground effect into account. Fuselage and stabilizer models allow using wind tunnel test data. Both of these models can simulate interference with main and tail rotors and also with each other. As with the rotor model, effect of wind is taken into account during simulation. Sounds good and its much tweakable. This was exactly what I ask for in my "Pants down...how you calculate the FM" thread... Can`t find some more infos about RTDynamics. They have not many vids about helicopter on there youtube channel. What other simulation games using this software? Does anyone know? Ok, they are specialised on flight model calculations. So all depends on how it is implemented in ToH engine? EDIT: Don`t see what exactly is the difference between RotorLib CGF® and RotorLib FDM®. RotorLib FDM® seems to be more complex regarding helicopter flight model. Would be very kind to have someone from BI here to tell us a little bit about that matter. .kju 3245 Posted October 10, 2011 I've contacted the company and they will look into the potential website issue ASAP. Maybe its just a false positive. With my restrictively configured browser I did not notice anything.
armored_sheep 56 Posted October 10, 2011 Take On uses RotorLib FDM. CGF could be used for AI, but it was not so advanced as our code for AI in Arma2/Arrowhead
EagleEye-GER- 0 Posted October 11, 2011 Thank you all for the informations! I´m more confident now, that it will be possible to have a more realistic helicopter FM. It´s all about tweaking and settings, isn`t it? So we should have Vortex Ring effect in final release?
BadWeather 10 Posted October 11, 2011 ;2036027'] So we should have Vortex Ring effect in final release? http://takeonthegame.com/technology-checklist/ It says there that vortex ring state is planned in a patch, so eventually yes I guess.
armored_sheep 56 Posted October 11, 2011 Yes. Flight model settings are in separate *.XML files. Plus for our extra engine features (fuel consumption, dynamic weight load, maintenance and damage simulation) there were added new parameters in addon *.cfg files. metalcraze 290 Posted October 11, 2011 As I understand this will also be used for ArmA3 and will be configurable so we will be able to have chopper mods with realistic flight models?
maruk 80 Posted October 12, 2011 As I understand this will also be used for ArmA3 and will be configurable so we will be able to have chopper mods with realistic flight models? Yes, it is already confirmed that the advanced helicopter flight model is going to be included in Arma 3.
