WTF!!!: trial by fire

who the @#$@#!@ made the mission trial by fire!! If anyone knows them presonally, please murder them!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

why the hell did they put a rocket launcher in the chopper and not put in any shots for it! and also where the F@#4 is the AAV7 attack which was talked aboout in the briefing #$@@#@@@#@##!@#!

sorry about that, now my rant is over, does anyone know what they hell you supposed to do in this mission,

1. first i nearly clear the village, but then either myself or one of my dumbass teamates run up to the truck under the camo netting and then a BRDM and about ten enemy troops turn up. the Sargent calls for a helo, which doesnt show up for about two minutes, by which time everon is dead, and to cap it off the second group are all SPARTAN super soldiers who seem to be able to snipe you with PKMS when you lying down behind a rock

please someone help me

Well, the mechanized infantry squad that is talked about in the briefing is busy doing its own thing.

For the first encounter, I recommend fining a good spot and using the reverse slope defence pointed up the road.

If your buddies are getting trouble from the brdm, you can shoot out its wheels with the 7.62 machinegun you're issued, or you can lay low until the helicopter shows up.

Also, there's a good variety of AT weapons near the UAZ at the end of the village (where most of the Chedaki come from). I usually sit in wait for the BRDM et al with a Metis and cause great suffering on their simple, protein based bodies.

2 years ago TVadney reported this as a bug. It was later Rejected because "This is by design." but since you were clearly annoyed because of it, you could still give vote for it to express opinion even though it is rejected.

Trial by Fire is one of the most brutal scenarios in all of A2. It is truly a trial by fire for A2 players, especially as it is the first scenario. There are waves of Chedaki, many of whom are skillfully lying prone and unseen, waiting for you to come into view. The chopper usually does eventually take out the BRDM. The AAV7 is taking out enemies at the airport, but I've seen times when it fails in that mission. I've found it largely impossible to flank the village - a bullet from an unseen enemy takes me out.

I have played this mission a few times, and results ranged from getting slaughtered in the first few minutes no matter what, to basically walking unscathed to the final objective and hardly firing a shot. Can't really explain it other than there are some no-go areas that you want to avoid and one (or more routes) where you can stroll basically unhindered and everyone else does the fighting.

I do the same as Max. I engage and advance to the church, then as soon as the BRDM shows up, fall back and set up reverse slope defence with the church being centre of arc. Once the BRDM is down I use the opening it has created and rush up north and out of the town. From there it should be pretty simple.

I think that I can explain it. It all depends on the BMP. As your squad carries no AT weapon the BMP is a VERY serious threat. So its best to take cover until the cobra arrives. If you're feeling brave/foolish there is a crate at the top of the rise that has an RPG-7 (just before the UAZ under the camo netting). Also don't forget that you can immobilise the BMP by shooting out its tires (takes several shots). After that it should be fairly simple advance to the airfield. Personally I've found that a combination of Robalo's ASR AI mod and the SLX Lite mod from Gunter ensures that AI react differently every time, thereby keeping me on my toes.

Actually the last couple of times I've played the mission in OA the helicopter hasn't turned up at all!

I just played again, and the heli was shot down, leaving the BMP to raise hell unimpeded. It eventually stopped on a slope NW of town and just sat there. I crawled up to the enemy supply dump, got a Metis, and took care of it.

However, the "Secure the Town" objective wouldn't complete, although no enemies were visible. All was quiet. All my squadmates were dead. I wandered around carefully in crouch, checking for remaining enemies. Suddenly a shot. Everything went red. An unseen, perfectly camouflaged soldier lying prone in the grass took me out from short range. Typical brutal Trial By Fire. Awesome.

I'm finally getting around to this many years later and it lets you choose the mp5sd and pick up ammo but it won't reload too!
