The worldcup 2002, who wins

Recommended Posts

Emmm....do you consider better Paraguay than Spain...then you´ve must seen a different match...clearly Spains second half was better than Paraguays...even before the 2-1 Morientes clearly missed a goal plus you can see that Spain has more ball possesion than Paraguay...the only issue that has overdowned that a bit is that when 3-1 the Paraguayan tema has started launching balls into the area but the goalkeeper Casillas has catched all the balls.... smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

But of course if you are loosing 3-1 you have to go and try to score a goal at least...

I don't think I've ever been so tense during a match, superb performance, especially the first 75 mins or so, pulling everyone back put us under more pressure than was necessary but the result was the only important thing, let's just hope we don't ruin it against Nigeria smile.gif

PAH

but what an excellent performance by england

that substitute for hardgraves was awsome Taylor i think, micheal owen nearly did a repeat performance of that goal he scored last world cup

Nicky butt should have been man of the match, he was absolutely everywhere

Ferdenand was so reliable in defence and very calm

Beckam was quiet but stood up when needed it cant have been easy taking that penalty considering englands shite performance with penalties biggrin.gif

best game ive seen of the world cup yet and ive seen them all but one

Come on with all your patriotism!!! biggrin.gif

The game was lame, of course you didnt have the same impression since you were fevering with your team! England showed indeed a good performance, especially a good portion of discipline (without it you always ruin the match). But of a match announced as the "match of the century" you can expect "real goals", creativity, new tricks, and no silly 4-4-2-1 rows. I was dissapointed. Anyway, a match should not be decided by a silly penalty (on whatever side it may be). That realy kills all acknowledgement a team would deserve!

Like this we definetly dont push the americans to play soccer!

(and dont stone me just because I dare to criticise the game)

well excuse me Mr Albert Schweizer biggrin.gif

i am not an english supporter I am scottish and have an inbred hatred for the english football team, i despise them i was rooting for argentina all the way but praise be where praise is due England had to put up a good performance against world cup favorites imo england should have maybe been 2 or 3 goals up

thats right- England created much better chances for the vast majority of the match, I dont think anyone tipped it to be 'match of the century' at least not in the UK press,

but a damn good match ,and that it was

(and im half scottish/english myself BTW)

trust the Germans to be more dour than a Scotsman wink.gif

Yeah, the scottish, the wildest tribe on the continent!!! biggrin.gif

No, but seriously! why do the British supporters always have to whistle during the national enthym of the other country??? Kinda doesnt leave a good impression abroad!!! Especially not in Asia where people pay lot of mutual respect

Hey Hilandor. Can you reset the poll and substitute a few countries? E.g. we could substitute some of the countries such as Kamerun and add USA or Senegal, take france out and add denmark or so. Actually it would be the smartest thing to reset the poll also when the final-rounds start! Makes it kind of more interesting!!  wink.gif We started the poll before the first match. Things have changed, and I would like to change my forecastings

MMmmm yes this is turning into the world cup odf upsets isnt it

First France lose,

then Germany (beaten 5-1 before)score 8,

Portugal lose,

then Argentina lose

maybe only Italy of the main 3 or 4 favourite teams not upset

.....interesting

anyway Albert that match was England Vs Argentina- it was personal

Damn that was some match.

I never saw a team play so defensive.

Pathetic, England!

I thought you liked the game mad.gif

Argentina looked much more like a World Champion, and England should take the first plane home.

Just goes to show, that football is not fair.

And poor little Beckham, whose life is so tough, he almost cried when he scored that penalty mad.gif

OK, I'll pull myself together:

Congratulations England! smile.gif (just saw the match an hour ago)

You had a iron will there, no beauty play, but damn tight defensive...

Now you have put us in a awful situation though; have to get at least a draw (if England dont lose to Nigeria) against Argentina who MUST win.

Swedens defensive midfield play (what I commented earlier was the defence line) was disgusting against Nigeria; we have to get that bloody Ljungberg in particular to take some defensive resposibility; and Hedman got some problems with cross balls.

If Sweden continues to improve (generally) we got a decent chance against Argentina though. See you in the semi final England! smile.gif

But I am much happier with the win over Nigeria than the draw, or even a win, against England - because England fits us better. therefore we have improved so far, and hopefully will continue with that!

BTW: Actually I almost wish that Sweden goes home - so that one just can enjoy beautiful football without only hoping for Sweden to go far; Sweden better begins to play entertaining (have already seen some of that) and beautiful football if we go for gold smile.gif
