CameronMcDonald 146 Posted August 17, 2011 Mate, it'd be really good if you could separate those fixes into their own PBOs a la True, etc. There are some features I'm dying to try (i.e. appropriate HE/AP use), but others that I find a bit less desirable. Work intensive, but it would be awesome. Congrats on the release, regardless. :)
nicklomas 3 Posted August 17, 2011 I'm at work so can't view this but do the russian soldiers have the AK74M or the original as this would be a let down if they are not using the M series

There's no AK-74M built in to either game.

dmarkwick 261 Posted August 17, 2011 Shame, was going to download this too! I'll give it a miss I just Googled the differences between AK-74 and AK-74M. I don't perceive any differences that are not visually minor? Aside from a rail-mount, which A2 cannot utilise in any case?
nicklomas 3 Posted August 17, 2011 The main differences that would be implemented for ARMA are the black synthetic stock
[asa]oden 0 Posted August 17, 2011 Isn't the 74M very much the ingame AK-107 but less Kobra and hot stuff? Would be nice if BIS gave us a ironsight "AK-107" and SA-80 without handgrip :) (Suma you read this? haha) But yeah, as a pure config addon I've only played around with whats in the standard game. Cameron, just rip out the relevant files from the source link and pbo what you prefer as a new @cameronBIS :) I'm pretty sure you got the know-how. DarkXess, I'm stunned as whatever I release here everyone gets lag and performance issues - must be a oden-Curse or something haha. All-in-all, the only thing that could create lag from this is the fired event handler but I've ran the monster mission named "Frontline" (known to kill people and their closest neighbor) with all the 700 units or so unleasing the event but no noticable performance impact. But as I said, I must have some curse over me.
mmcnosferatu 10 Posted August 17, 2011 ODEN;2005491']Isn't the 74M very much the ingame AK-107 but less Kobra and hot stuff? Haven't tried your mod yet, but changelog looks nice :) AK-74M has no burst mode, just auto and single, it also has some visual differences from AK-107, most noticable is gas tube area. And I think US Army soldiers should have more M4 weapons than M16.

Soppose id be able to remove the "fired event handler" if that is possible? thanks again.

gossamersolid 155 Posted August 18, 2011 ODEN;2005491']Isn't the 74M very much the ingame AK-107 but less Kobra and hot stuff? I don't know the full technical specifications of the guns, but the AK-107 is very different from the 74M as far as I know. The AK-107 has some technologies like recoil reduction and such. 74M is basically a 74 with a black plastic furniture and some smaller tweaks.
kireta21 13 Posted August 18, 2011 74M is basically a 74 with a black plastic furniture and some smaller tweaks. Yes. Black polimer furniture (aparently to reduce visibility in NVGs), side folding full buttstock as standard and scope rail as standard (finally!). AK-107 is a different rifle. It uses balanced-action system, which reduce recoil a lot, and makes it lots more "smooth" like in Stoner-system rifles, while it still maintains AK-like reliability. It fire-rate is something among 850rpm, when in AK-74/AK-74M it is 600rpm. And unlike them AK-107 has 3-rnd burst mode. And the most important: AK-107 was never issued or even produced, only small number of rifles were ordered for testing, by both Russian police and military. Russian soldiers with AK-107 make as much sense, as US soldiers with XM-8.
gossamersolid 155 Posted August 19, 2011 Russian soldiers with AK-107 make as much sense, as US soldiers with XM-8. Difference between the XM8 and the AK107 is that the XM8 is a pile of shit and the AK107 is actually an improvement :)
kireta21 13 Posted August 20, 2011 Dunno. For me both are non-issued, non-production rifles that never went past army trials
