ACPL Jon 68 Posted August 2, 2011 The best tactical\realism oriented (WW2) mod for HL2 had it's long awaited update. If You have HL2 it'd be a deadly sin not to at least try it. http://www.moddb.com/mods/resistance-liberation/news/open-beta-16-released/ New version totally kicks ass, too much features to list as I'm already late for a meeting, but I thought You guys should know. IMO it's better then RO, leave shitty Insurgency kilometers behind, it's just the return of the king for me. Promo vids or renders doesn't give the feeling of the coolest shooting since original Day Of Defeat and original Firearms and sound experience is just as epic as JSRS soundpack. The gameplay is pure tactical oldschool, a game for me, a game for You, classic GR fans! Sorry to sound like a fanboy, but it's so much better then everything else except ArmA 2 and sex. Go check it out!
dmarkwick 261 Posted August 2, 2011 Better than Hidden & Dangerous 2? :)
Smurf 12 Posted August 2, 2011 Better than Hidden & Dangerous 2? :) Not that they have something in common besides the WW2 theme... Been (or trying) playing since the fist public release, its a good game, nice features but lacks players\servers (being a south american, no server below 250ms :( ) and the game looks and feels very crude in certain areas. But is worth a try, downloading it again. PS: Their aiming system is something I would like to see in A3.
sudayev 27 Posted August 2, 2011 Niice. Thanks for the heads up Jon, I'll check it out
Montanaro 0 Posted August 3, 2011 IMO it's better then RO, lol, if by RO you mean the mod version, then sure.
Big Dawg KS 6 Posted August 3, 2011 I haven't looked at the update yet, but R&L is pretty much the only game/mod on Source that I've played with a decent shooting mechanic. It also felt a lot like RO (with smaller maps of course).
gossamersolid 155 Posted August 3, 2011 R&L is just getting more and more disappointing tbh. It started out as such a good idea, but it's just not working. If you play on a server with above 100ms ping (and since the only servers up are european), you get really bad delay on your movements (getting into the aiming mode, switching weapons, deploying the bipod, etc). I'd pass on R&L, when RO 1 is already out there and RO 2 is less than a month away.
ACPL Jon 68 Posted August 3, 2011 (edited) No, there are US servers they are just less popular atm. And I saw people playing on US servers (one with 20+ players and one with 9). Lag destroys most games, so I don't see what's "disappointing" about it. I played some more and sometimes I get my ass kicked real good - people got better nowdays :D Good and challenging. Soon I'll write up features and upload screens and who knows - maybe I'll be even able to capture some cool gameplay video. And btw - since Valve is awesome SDK's are now free, so You can run few good mods (that need the engine only, no HL2 or CSS stuff) like RnL for ABSOLUTELY FREE. Again: IT'S A FREE GAME. With great gfx & sound, and gameplay that's only comparable with RO and oldschool Day Of Defeat. Edited August 3, 2011 by JonPL
Smurf 12 Posted August 3, 2011 Source engine in general is disappointing with a bit higher latency, you just can´t play as you have a HUGE disvantage unlike other games as BF2,BC2, RO, ARMA and so on...
