A few questions from a potential buyer!

Recommended Posts

So I played the demo, thought it was pretty cool. I know the Free ArmAII multiplayer is coming soon but I love mods and modding so I'm think I ought to buy the game. But first, a few questions and hopefully someone can enlighten me.

If I buy ArmA2:OA, will I feel like I'm missing out on a lot of content? How does it work when it comes to multiplayer? Can I only play with others that have OA? Do mods for ArmA2 (the standard full game) work with ArmA2:OA? I'm not looking to pay too much on a game I potentially will not enjoy (I think I will but only one way to really find out). I found ArmA2:OA for 20 bucks so I'm thinking of getting it.

You wont be able to use content from reg arma2 in oa without reg arma2 including mods which is alot. If you enjoyed the demo chances are you will enjoy the game cause its the same thing.Me personally i recommend getting both cause theres alot of mods that require reg arma2 and im a mod freak, Plus it has good content. Also far as multiplayer anything the servers running that you dont have means you cant join that server. =)

ArmA 2 free does not work with OA/DLC's

Most servers need ArmA 2, OA and the latest OA patch (or buy the DLC's)

Some mods work OA alone, some A2 alone, some both but ArmA 2 Free cannot have mods

There's a reason so many people bought OA. The gameplay upgrades it brought with it are irreplaceable. And the addon and MP scene went along with it.

Combined Operations is $25 from Amazon on DVD or $30 digital download directly from BIS on their store. You can get both the DLCs for another $22. That's $52 for four products, which is about the same price any other single military game out there.

If you're going to get OA for $20 you might as well spend the extra $5 and get Combined Operations. It's ArmA2 and OA together.

Definatley get Arma2 Combined Ops, you will get the best of both Arma2, and OA.

At the same time You can play with mods for Arma2 and OA with Arma2CO.

Get the DVD or Download stay away from Steam just a suggestion.

I personally think theres no other game like Arma2CO well the series TBH, other then Oblivion with its

massive modding community, theres to much to do in the game to be dissapointed, I really dont see the point of playing anything else,

the community here is huge, and been around since 2001, its only going to get better with Arma3 on the way next year!

Any other questions ask, alot of helpful folks around here.

I could not agree more, been playing Arma series since it came out and started playing ofp in 2002. I play nothing else, nothing else compares. I played all of the rainbow six stuff, rogue spear, bf series (first few) and a few others. There is nothing that compares to the tactics, open playing area, AI in anything else I have tried, I have no interest in anything else. With OFP and Arma you don't need anything else, unless you like packman ;)

There should be a banner at the top of every page on this website that says:

"To those newbies about to ask a question .... Just buy Arma II Combined Operations"

Why do you say stay away from steam?

Long story short, it is much easier to use a proper installation and you get patches when they are released and not a couple of days later.

There should be another along side that says: "ArmA II doesn't run at high FPS! above Normal settings"

:yay::yay:
