I hope AI will at least be able to placed in buildings!

AI in games like this is really complicated , and its amazing what they did with the first 2 games.

But having a war sim where nobody is fighting in buildings is kinda silly. It would take an extreme amount of work to code the AI so they take cover in buildings by themselves.

So maybe if thats not possible maybe an alternitive would be getting BIS to code it into the editor that enemies can spawn inside buildings in defensive postition and not be able to move (kind of like a turret)

While i would love to see the AI walk in and out of buildings by themselves this is a huge jump in AI coding that would have to be done , but at least give us the alternative!

You can already place the AI in buildings and have them not move. That's been around for ages.

Place an enemy unit near a building, place a waypoint for this unit directly on the building (move the cursor until it says "House") and add a waypoint. You will get an extra combo box "House Position". Just chose which house position this unit should occupy, and he will move there.

Currently the AI in buildings is a joke. They stand there, and move really slow, the humans have the advantage when they clear the room.

I'd rather see some improved building destruction. Why waste time in CQB when you can just fill the building full of holes? :cool:

in SLX mod, the AI takes cover inside buildings... It isn't impossible to make, not at all. Don't say stuff you know nothing about.. :j:

Which module does that in SLX and does AI do that rarely by some miracle (because if that's FindCover.pbo then that's how it is) or does it actually make AI use building interiors much much more often?

Oh don't you know? You only need basic logic to see that AI is completely incapable of entering buildings in ArmA. :rolleyes:

The only thing that is needed is to update the building pathing (and possibly add a ground layer LOD or something), and since AI pathing has made great strides since OFP, I expect there will be even more improvemetns with ArmA 3.

*Spotted a naked hostile washing in bathtub*

"ENEMY NAKED MAN, IN FRONT OF US, DANGER CLOSE."

"ALL, ENGAGE THE NAKED MAN."

(Before he can finish this order the AI already bloodbath the poor guy.)

Can rooms of the houses/buildings also can be separate instead of a whole piece of structure? That could make AI searching it by every area of it.
