mach2infinity 12 Posted May 19, 2011 (edited) I'm sure I'm not the only here who despite welcoming this news as it's the next stage of evolution for the ArmA series; will also have a sense of déjà -vu. Simply because by the time the game will have come out, once more it will not have been properly optimised/be too taxing for current systems. As I understand it, "ArmA 2" and "OA" do not utilise more than 3GB of RAM? In addition they do not use more than one core of a processor? If so, this should be addressed by B.I as it would be sheer madness not to take advantage of such technology given the scope of the ArmA series. I realise that to render an island and all of its rich detail requires a lot of work by a processor and realistically, we're talking about processors in excess of 4GHz here to get very smooth frame rates. Which will only be achieved by consumers overclocking their processors. An unecessary requirement. So please, do optimise the game to be more hardware friendly whilst not compromising on the quality and standard that the ArmA series is known for. skooma 10 Posted May 19, 2011 I saw the system reqs they posted. They want a GF260 but only 2GB of RAM?
mach2infinity 12 Posted May 19, 2011 The GF260 is a pretty low-end card by today's standards though? I haven't read anything about ATI's latest offering but Nvidia's 590GTX apparently has been fairly impressive with "ArmA 2". Here's the thing, they ask for a minimum of 2GB of RAM but that's not to say the game's engine will not be able to utilise 4GB of RAM or more.
Iroquois Pliskin 0 Posted May 19, 2011 (edited) I hope there's some sort of partnership with nVidia, and that the meant to be played guys will teach BIS a thing or two, specifically a genuine DX10 & physics implementation. :D P.S. I'm not sure what you people expect as to the hardware requirements, but I was playing ArmA 2 maxed at 1920x1080, with no AA on a Phenom x2 II 3.4 GHz (2 core), 4 GB 'o RAM and ATi's 4890 (equivalent of GTX 260) way back then. Sanyix 0 Posted May 19, 2011 Nvidia have nothing to do with directx, they were the last who implemented dx11. Also physx is the worst physics engine, inefficient, and platform dependent. DX11 and opencl/directcompute should be used, with own physics engine or a free physics engine like Bullet which supports both opencl, and directcompute. Anyway bis games always have extreme system requirements (for smooth game), so the whole engine is need to be optimized, perhaps rewritten.
Splintert 10 Posted May 19, 2011 I hope this ARMA utilizes my Quad core effectively, as that greatly limited my ability to play on highest settings with a GTX460.
maturin 12 Posted May 19, 2011 I saw the system reqs they posted. They want a GF260 but only 2GB of RAM? The RAM reqs for Arma 2 were disproportionately low as well.

minicus 1 Posted March 22, 2013 Its very hardware friendly, I believe they have the minimum on the steam page.
