burdy 11 Posted April 29, 2011 Is there anyway to limit Arma 2 FPS to 30 FPS? I tryed Vsync, but I would love to keep it at 30 fps (for smoother gameplay) Thanks.

burdy 11 Posted April 30, 2011 Will this limit the FPS to 30?
liquidpinky 11 Posted April 30, 2011 You could go into the config and change refresh rate to 30 as well probably.
KR303 10 Posted April 30, 2011 I would stay away from the 'Dynamic View Distance' mod. It makes the view distance change too much for the worse and reduces overall performance i think! Have you tried turning off ATOC in your Arma2OA.config and setting prerenderedframesahead to 8, also in your config and nvidia control panel. This didnt stop my frames going below 30 but helped stabilize my performance 'Significantly'!!!
pipscouse 10 Posted April 30, 2011 With DVD you can edit and set your own preferences, save and then copy and paste into your arma folder
NeMeSiS 11 Posted April 30, 2011 You could go into the config and change refresh rate to 30 as well probably. Only if you have a magic monitor with a refreshrate of 30Hz and turn vsync on. ;)
Devil Dogs SF 13 Posted April 30, 2011 With proper configuration, DVD is a good FPS helper, from what I've found. Several missions that ran rather bad on my PC were made playable with it. Use this pbo version, as it will function on all missions without having to implement it as a mission script. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=13304
=wfl= sgt bilko 10 Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) FPS is not really the same as refresh rate. I think the OP is asking for a a way to cap (limit to a max value) the FPS to 30 (or whatever value you prefer). E.g the dvar 'com_maxfps' in games using quake engines from IDSoftware. Leon86 13 Posted May 2, 2011 (edited) Indeed, lots of games have a built-in frame limiter. Fraps limits the fps while recording, other software can limit it the same way. Maybe the program discussed in this tread will do it. edit: bandicam (fraps clone) has a limiter built in that doesnt require recording, it works, I get best results on 30 fps with vsync off, still have some tearing so it's not perfect. With vsync on it's just not smooth. Edited May 2, 2011 by Leon86

fullham 10 Posted May 2, 2011 Hi, i was looking for a utility to limit fps in Arma2, and i got one that worked perfect (i tried it but finally i didnt use it any more, because i didnt like the performance i get with it). The name was "arma2_fpslimiter", very easy to use. You put a d3d9.dll file in the Arma2.exe directory and then add -fpslimit=30 parameter to the shortcut to use. I think this app is made with the FPSlimiter, but i cant find in google now the "arma2_fpslimiter.rar" file i found months ago.
BasileyOne 10 Posted May 3, 2011 i hope BIS games will never had such feature. for undisclosed reason.
