Who want's hawk?

Recommended Posts

ok.. so I made a HAWK launcher model... no maps (at least not yet) around 3300 polys..  a bit much I know.. but I hate crappy ultra low polygon models.

If somebody wants to play around with it..  maps, oxygen stuff.. be my guest.

I don't have oxygen myself.. so so..  =O)

wow that looks wicked, to lower polygon count u could do something with the stands and the thing that holds the missiles because they won't b seen much

Ah, well you don't need to cut the poly-count down to 1500.

Most of the high-res LODs of the vehicles are at about 2500 polys.

I've downloaded the file, and I'll take a look at it to see where there's too many polys =)

I'll check back later with suggestions on where to cut polycount.

PS. It's one hell of a good looking model by the way =)

I think thats an excellent model, great stuff Jonaz smile.gif

As for the poly count, it isnt too high at all, so I dont know why people are thinking that. Though of course some poly optimisation never hurts smile.gif

Again, well done on a quality model smile.gif

You know, I remember that Goetterfunke's artillery add-on was towable on a truck.  If you could set something like that up once you get this badboy in-game, it would be very useful.

ok thanks people for feedback.. smile.gif

yes if you want this model implemented it totally depends on other people. That's why there's a download "max file link".

I might get some mapping done.. (depends on how lazy I am)

RavenDK (aka Frandsen (DDAM modder) is currently looking at it with Oxygen. But ofcause, nothing is certain.

I did a quick poly reduction.. and I got it down to 2332 polys (Polygon Counter)

scanline says 2630... ? don't know which one to trust.

The scene is setup, so it's really easy to reduce polys. At least for semi experienced max users. But I didn't have the heart to go lower.. but it could be done easily.

Always trust the higher polycount, then you won't get nasty surprises =)

Anyway, 2630 is low enough. No need to go lower than that.

I was gonna take a look at it, but now I will let it be =)

Indeed very nice model of the HAWK firing unit, excellent job!

How about some sections like acquisition and firecontrol to accompany it, then you´d have a complete HAWK battery.

AN/TPS-59 Long Range

Surveillance Radar

" The AN/TPS-59 Radar Set is a Marine Air Command & Control System which serves as the primary sensor for the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF), providing air target information and raw video to the Tactical Air Operations Module (TAOM). It can also be forward-deployed as a stand-alone remote sensor and air traffic controller. The improved radar will detect theater ballistic missiles out to 400 nautical miles and up to 500,000 feet in altitude. These improvements will give the radar the sort of surveillance and tracking ability needed for theater ballistic missile defense (TBMD). The first units were equipped with upgraded TPS-59s in FY98. "

truck.gif

Air Defense Communications Platform (ADCP)

"The Air Defense Communications Platform, an entirely new addition to the HAWK system, will link the TPS-59 to the HAWK battery and will also transmit formatted data to other theater sensors. This will allow the HAWK to communicate with other TBMD systems through the Joint Tactical Information Distribution System. These links will allow the air defense commander to cue HAWK with other missile defense systems and integrate the HAWK into the theater missile defense architecture. The ADCP is fully developed, and began production in FY97.

"

This is the modern and current setup for the upraged HAWK system. In 1985 the setup was different from that.

yup it would be pretty cool to have a whole HAWK battery..

but i'm more into the older units..  the stuff I was trained on.

(only as crewman, during my conscription time)

some more hawk stuff

http://www.bw-flyer.de/hawk/hawk.htm

(the PAR looks odd because the pic is squished alot)

modeling it is no problem for me..  but I have this thing with maps..  implementing the other units should be very easy, since they are simple radars or static..   the HIPAR has to point at targets and the CWAR tilts up and down.

there's also the loader, barracktrucks, relaytruck, radiotrucks (pornmags included), messtruck, portable toilet (pornmags included).. if I were to go totally insane.. but that's a bit much.. wink.gif

gameplay wise it's not a big thing.. HAWK units are more fun to blow up anyway..

Werent those rockets a bit radio active ??

I can remember some things about it, some men got cancer and they blamed it on the hawk.

btw a bit off topic

nope not the missiles..

but some of the radars are pretty nasty with radiation.

and people has gotten cancer working around theses things.

I was only there for a few months.

Looks cool

Nice work, dude.

Sad that the polyes is soooo high.

Otherwise it's nice done. But how do I open a MAX file, so I can use it in the game...

What are your thoughts about how to fire it??? and what about movement??

The first active artillery gun was scripted so you could hang it on the back of a truck, that might be a idea. And mayby you could also script the same truck to be a control center for it. Just my thought.

Make it a fully pivotable, stationary launcher. Select targets with TAB, and fire as normal.

I`m only curious...

How many polygons have the models from BIS, for example the T72 or the Chinook?
