Is the high command menu/system incomplete or not!

Recommended Posts

Hello, gentleman. How many of you really use THE HIGH COMMAND SYSTEM! Like I want to. Right now the system is somewhat not complete. You can order groups of units to general waypoints and give them attack commands but you can't give them real detail orders like you can with the complex command menu in fact most of the choices you can't select from the high command menu.

I may be wrong about this but I can't get it to work. Is this something that BOHEMIA knows and is going to fix in a later patch.

Please tell me if I am wrong about the HIGH COMMAND manu!!!

I think I have a way around the issue. I put a squad of 24 soldiers under my direct control and put 4 other large squads using the high command system under my control. One air, tanks, foot soldiers and some light armor with support units.

Like I said you can give them general orders like move and attack but that's it. Well if you use teamswitch you can take over the other team leaders of the other four groups then give them direct orders using the complex command menu and go right back to your main commander of the battle group. It work great.

I don't know if this is news or not but I could not find anything about using high command this way to get it to work better then just basic commands like move and attack.

I think High Command is more about the big strategic picture rather than the detailed complex tactical stuff. High Command says what goes where, and the guys on the ground figure out the details.

MarkWick is right. really its on the squad leaders to decide who takes cover where, who shoots at what and who patches up the retard who ran out front of the MG nest.

Your job as the HC guy, (really i found the HC module works best at the Platoon Leader level) is to ensure your elements are placed correctly, and command and control them to outmaneuver your enemy.

Usually what i do is have a squad of 9 under my direct command (me, the Platoon Sgt, the Platoon Medic, 2x MG Teams and the Platoon FO Team)

and then 3 Dismounted grunt squads under seperate HC command, and the mounted element under a seperate suboordinate command.

This allows me to maneuver my dismounted squads in and around the enemy, and the mounted element (Strykers, Humvees, what have you) to support by fire positions...

If someone goes down, i order my medic to go and get him. If something needs artillery, my FO team nails it. Its all about Command and Control as the PL. Its on the Squad Leaders to take care of their immediate situations, and its on you to take care of the Bigger Picture...

hope that was long winded enough for you! =]

PS, you can also add some Radio Triggers to command your troops using the CBA/BIS Task functions for more detailed stuff, such as breaching buildings, Defending positions and patrolling areas.

I have Radio triggers set up to mount up the squads on their own tracks/trucks. Its all about the 0-0 menu lol

You guys are missing the point! right now the high command system is fucntional but it is incomplete. You can't use all the choices in the menu this is a fact (please tell me I am wrong). What I find is that I can move my other groups with general waypoints and attacks but using the teamswitch you take full control of the other groups and have all the choices with the complex command menu and then switch back to your main commander to watch. I am not talking about using this for warfare. Peronally I don't care for it. Use this for COOP missions.

I think maybe you just wanna to sit comfortably and order your army fight in the front line with a more detailed commanding system like some other stragetic wargame, right?

However, I don't think I wanna a more detailed commanding system for I've already got quite busy on leading my own team, hence, I've no idea whether the high command system is imcomplete or not, at least, I'm satisfied with the current gameplay BI made.

Try right klick on given Waypoints ;)

You can make some pretty awesome stuff with this, like coordinated attacks

Some people need to fire up arma1 and COC/CEX ... and then rethink statements :)

... except we're not talking about COC/CEX, we're talking about High Command as implemented by BIS :)

Based fully I would hazard a guess at COC/CEX in Arma1 .. but not meeting the full requirement .................................................. yet :)

I joke, yes all points are right, but I have a list of new features I would love to see BIS "finish off High Command" with, but thats a request section thing.

well its incomplete, but its far from not fun. if really leading an AI squad gets too stale for you, try leading an AI platoon. its way more fun, being accountable for 40 somthin dudes rather than the normal 9.

i mean the menus arent complete, but really how much more complicated can ordering your guys get???

Go there....Attack that.

thats really all you need. I mean the triggers i made went ahead and completed it to my personal preferences the list goes this far.

Convoy Halt.

1st Squad Mount/Dismount

2nd Squad Mount/Dismount

3rd Squad Mount/Dismount

Convoy continue movement.

and the generic go there....attack that. that is all you need really. what more are you looking for honestly? you have your behaviors, you have your movement speeds, you have your fire/engagement controls, you have your formations....what more do you need???

Buy Arma1 and play COC/CEX addon :yay::D

Im not suggesting you might not "need" more (you probably dont), but i know for a fact its incomplete and could be a whole lot more you would be having a wet dream about it :) literally to the point it wouldn't be seen as just a "large group command thing for those type of missions" and would be seem-less even for small teams and every scenario at any stage .. almost permanent at a flick of a switch ..... but .... for now it does the job.

true ive heard some great things about COC/CEX, but i havent really experienced it myself.

i have every intention of trying it out though! just cant cuz no personal internet out here (f*ck iraq!)

but for now the HC Module for ArmA 2 is creating some intense command and control scenarios for me. As long as i can control my squads and call in IDF and CAS for them, im satisfied. not IMPRESSED, but satisfied

wouldnt mind a wet dream-inducing mod though lol

wake up like :butbut:

:o
