Hell in the Pacific MOD

Sounds like it should be fine to me. I am run Isla Lingor OK on my Q6600 Quad Core and Nvidia 9800. It has heavy tropical vegetation. But I do have view distance set to only 1km with normal settings.

Have you done anything with the american mortar?I haven't seen anything about it,only the one that the Japs are gonna be using

If you’re worried about performance then don't be afraid to set everything to normal. View distance isn't always much of a problem on most islands/maps. For example I have all settings set to normal and view distance @4km on Duala. It still looks amazing ! Lingor needs 1km view distance because of the thick vegetation. Most important is keeping frame rate high as that is the thing that actually determines how good/realistic things look (persistence of vision). Forget all the hype about high resolution textures. That is not what determines "realism". Anyway ... without turning this into a performance tweaking thread. It looks like Hell in the Pacific should not be too bad because it does not contain 4km squared landscapes (not that I know of yet). However too much AI scripting and units can cause a performance hit.

Yes, we have smoke shells and (dis)assembleable heavy weapons, and players can be suppressed as well.

I don't feel like players need an additional advantage over the poor AI, that's why suppression doesn't work on AI.

But if you feel like it, I guess TPW's excellent suppression suite will work with HIP too, if you want that feature.

That sounds cool :cool:. So we're talking two man MG crews ? I wonder, have you ever got the AI to assemble those weapons ?

We put alot of time into optimize island for frame rate preformance. With our own custom vegetation we can offer players good frame rate.

For example our Burme island kohima ridge, huge island with massive dense jungle I get 40 -60 fps in the thick of it all. The is even better then Arma2 Cheranus island in forest.

We started out with Berghof vegetation that is used on the Lingor Island. But then our island frame rate went down to 5 - 20 fps. So we had to make our own vegetation that give players good frame rate.

Also our vegetation has view blocking for AI. So you can hid in the tall grass. We tested a mission I made and I could crawl 1 -2 meters next to AI patrol in the ( custom made ) grass and they did not see me at all.

Hope this give you all somthing to look forward too. :)

Oh believe me.I am already looking foward for the mod.Now I can clearly understand why it will take sometime for you to release.Speaking of hiding in tall grass.Will I be able to climb onto trees and snipe the enemy?

Why would you want to? ACE 2 is great and all, but it was meant (IMO) for the more modern mods....not that it can't be used for WW2 scenarios.

I may be speaking WAY out of bounds here, but Mr. Pedersen, Babylonjoke, Waxbutter, and the rest of the folks at HiP are working their butts off to make an all encompassing mod that should trully be enjoyed in and of itself.

You are totally right and I didn't mean to be offensive to anybody.I can clearly see that everybody is working hours in order to bring us this beautifull and most important of all free of charge mod.I am really sorry if I offended anybody.You see I had never thought that ACE was meant to only be used for modern era warfare.

I wonder if the Japs are gonna through flares in the middle of the night and start a firefight and banzai charging.Scary and awesome at the same time.

I was wondering about ACE for the reason that somebody might have mods that require ace and it might have problems by disabling ace

The priority are small ships such as landing ships,destroyers,auxilary vassels and escort carriers... :D

Will the Escort Carries be different for each country?And will the have working elevatos?Also the carriers in general will have refueling,repairing and rearming capabilities?Sorry if I get kinda pussy!Oh and I almost forgot the destroyers will have torpedo tubes,I would ask if they had dept charges but they will be kinda useless.

Our current stand-in escort carrier (which is more or less a proof-of-concept) is used on both sides at the moment.

It does not have animated elevators, but you can still put planes in the hangars and back on deck by script. It has repair/refuel/rearming capabilities.

There are custom scripts for primitive radar as well, and scripts for arrester cables, catapults, a harbor menu to resupply the carrier, a feature to clear wrecks off the deck, you can anchor it, it has working AA guns incl. flak burst and much more.

Still, all this is highly W.I.P and everything is subject to change.

I almost forgot to look at that for the Hellcat.

But I'm positive that this will be possible if the model supports folding wings (I think so but am not sure).

I know, but I'm not sure if the animation has been set up in our model.

We already have a lot of reference, but if you have some blueprints it wouldn't hurt, I guess.

What we have now is something like the Bogue and Casablanca classes.

I was also thinking of the Bogue.But will the landings be easy?It has a quiet short flight deck,but i looks really nice and so does the Casablanca class.Now I don't what the IJN had as escort carriers because their CVE class carriers were almost as big as their CV carriers.That is because the Japanese had never thought that they might lose,so their carriers were big and slow and not good at manuvering.
