Hell in the Pacific MOD

Hey there.

-We only have olive uniforms for the marines.

-We have the US Willys (by Waxbutter) and the Japanese counterpart, the Type 95 Kurogane 'Daruma' (by Gachopin)

-We have some sort of generalized escort carrier at the moment (it's no particular ship class as far as I am aware of, and we currently use it for both sides). I guess it will be like that in the first release too.

About the USMCs uniforms.When u release Tarawa and Iwo Jima will the Marines have their camo uniforms?

I was at Moddb and I found your mod and you said that it would be realesed in a month or less than a month.That was around 10 of August.I want to know if this is true or not.

Well all I can say it is done when its done. But that is what we maby wanted but for now the only thing I can say is time will tell. But it will be released.

I was reading the previous posts and you said that you are going to make a dive bomber.Will you be able to be the tail gunner?And if you are going to make twin and quad engined bombers will the player be able to also be the gunner and not only the pilot?:confused::o

Could the creators tell us what this mod will require to run.Meaning will it need more mods to run it or is everything going to be included into the mod?

Will there be smoke shells ? I'm thinking of suppression of the AI and human players with smoke shells in combination with MG fire. There is an add-on for the AI that already provides AI reaction to suppression (I have not got round to testing it yet). Smoke blocks AI vision as well as human players vision. Yesterday I discovered that in normal ArmA you can assemble an MG from tripod and and MG bags in the field and then disassemble after usage. MG was used especially in WW2 (think I'm right about this) for suppressions of the enemy while flanking manoeuvres are carried out (FFF, Find, Fix (suppress), Flank). So I'm just generally interested about WW2 specific tactics and manoeuvres that can be carried out in the ArmA engine so well.

Yes, we have smoke shells and (dis)assembleable heavy weapons, and players can be suppressed as well.

I don't feel like players need an additional advantage over the poor AI, that's why suppression doesn't work on AI.

But if you feel like it, I guess TPW's excellent suppression suite will work with HIP too, if you want that feature.

Will there be any ships such as destroyers,cruisers and of Battleships and if yes will the player be able to control their guns?

EDIT:Imagine having something like an Iowa or Mushasi class Battleship:cool:.It would destroy Guadacanal's defence's in minutes and kill most of the ai.In any case that you create any type of ship with artillery will you add something like a targeting computer?

Yes but probably not in the first release of the mod :) (and of course player will be able to control guns)

Yes but what about targeting?In english warships mod you actully aim through a scope which mkes it impossible to use the cannons for supporting the troops when they are inland.

I am sorry this means that there gonna be battleships?!And if yes I will be able to launch Recon planes from?(From what I understand no).Also are there gonna be recon planes in general like PBYs and Jakes?

As I understand it, escort vessels (destroyers, ...) to accompany the carriers have priority at the moment.

We plan to use our custom artillery module for ship artillery too. This mean that you can shoot based on map calculations.

I'm not sure if it makes much sense if players could control individual turrets. Fire control from a fire control director position would be much more realistic and effective. But it would be easy to let players control the turrets, of course.

No battleships are planned yet and neither are recon planes (at least as far as I know of). But launching recon planes from ships would be easy. After all, we have a fully functional carrier.

Well yes.But the recon planes on battleships or cruisers are launched by catapult while as the planes on carriers are launched from the flight deck.Now i don't know if you carrier has catapults on it,but if it has then as you say it would be easy to launch recon planes from battleships and crusiers

It's a similar script, and luckily a very easy one.

Basically, you just give the plane a big 'push' when it's launched.

But I want to point out again that ships will be looked at in more detail in later releases, not the first.

We don't want to anyone to build up wrong expectations :)

While you wait for our release, I highly recommend trying Invasion '44. A great mod indeed!

The priority are small ships such as landing ships,destroyers,auxilary vassels and escort carriers... :D

Thank you for the mod recomedation.I am already using Invasion 1944 and yes it is indeed a great mod.But when I apla i feel a bit out of my element because i know more about the war in the pacific.

Of course.I can understand that because those are the ships that are gonna support the marines when they invade islands.Could somebody tell me if the mod is going to be heavy to run.Meaning that I am a bit worried about the vegetation of the islands which as we all know is whatmekes arma lag quiet a bit.

We use custom vegetation made by Waxbutter. He spent countless months optimizing it.

My old machine (a Q6600 with a mediocre GFX-card) runs the mod quite well.

My system has intel core i5 2410m2.3 ghz,Geforce Gt540m 2gb,2 2gb ddr3 ram.Will it have any problems?I am asking you because you are the one's that use the mod
