Takistani National Army

Recommended Posts

I began this project in Mid-September, but had to take a break due to some personal issues that arose in October. As the demands on my time slowly lessen, I have dedicated myself to continuing this project and decided to push out an early release to generate interest and feedback.

I am not a modeler, so I am not independently capable of creating or modifying models for the purpose of this addon. I still have quite a bit of work left on this project, but everything is steadily moving in the right direction and I intend to release updates as quickly as I can. This requires Operation Arrowhead, or Combined Operations.

Good idea and a really good point to give the takistani army desert camo :) but maybe a different camo would be nice for ID, there is a lot of 3-color desert around.

good luck!

There were a couple of reasons behind my choice for 3 color desert:

1. I figured that Takistan, like many non-developed non-Western countries, would treat and equip their soldiers on a hierarchical basis. Meaning, the bottom of the barrel soldiers would have the worst equipment and "high-drag" uniforms. In this release you see two extremes: The Regulars have all the same crap the Takistani Army (bad guys) had and a very well-used and generic type uniform. The Commandos have a mix of Western weapons and a very good digital camouflage uniform that is good on pretty much any terrain. The Airborne soldiers, when I make them, will be something of a mid-grade. I haven't decided yet what they will have, but I am open to suggestions.

2. After two deployments with the uniform, I am quite partial to 3 color desert and it was pretty simple to use my old uniforms for reference photos. The Commando texture is not as good as the Regulars simply because I used a swatch for the Commandos instead of an actual uniform set like I did with the Regulars.

You have included the privatebikey and not the bisign file. The privatebikey should never be shared.

I guess you will release an updated signed version with the bisign files? You will probably have to make a new privatebikey as the key is out there now so server admins can no longer trust your addons (certain dickheads can now edit your work, release their own addons with your bikey and act like little kids on other peoples servers).

Just a friendly headsup ;)

Whoops.

It's my first time signing an addon and I wasn't paying attention. Thanks Foxhound.

Download link will be temporarily removed and replaced shortly.

hey there

im offering my NTA model since you beat me to the NTA addons :D

http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm180/guitaro-man/takiun.jpg

want it?

Uh, I can't do anything with it right now, but maybe sometime in the near future.

As it is, I think I am missing some substantial step with BinPBO. I am asking the program to create a signature and yet, it does not. It compresses the folder but..alas, no bisign. Unless I am completely misunderstanding the process.

I am no expert but have you seen this?

Great success! Thanks, Foxhound.

I will be re-uploading ASAP. I will also be modifying the TNA flags prior to upload due to private request.

*edit*

I am currently in the process of re-hosting this. I also removed a great deal of waste files and made a minor modification to the flags. I will be further refining the flag, this is more of a quick fix.

Ah, I understand. Great idea anyway.

May I suggest you doing some "desert jacket-green trousers" models or the airborne. Since takistan has many greenzones. We used to do that to break shapes when moving through the greenzones in Afgh, and the other way around just because we didnt have rainjackets in 3-color desert.:(

Or maybe you could give the airborne guys the desert storm DBDU?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks. They currently share the default blood textures used by the Takistani Army. Shoot them in the face to test it.

I'm looking at some other arid and temperate digital patterns right now. I considered a sort of mix-match, but not for the Airborne/Commandos. I may look at the idea further.

US 6-color Desert is a definite No-Go, however.

Egh. Maybe. It's a small military for a poor country in chaos. The writer in me has a hard time justifying a widely diverse and eclectic force of specialists. If I did something like that, it would be a very low priority to be filled after a lot of work has been done on other parts of the addon. I still have quite a bit of work to get the Regular Infantry up to the standard I want, let alone the Commandos and the Airborne (which haven't even been started).

I am currently having some unbelievable difficulties with the normal maps. I don't know what the issue is, but the game is flat out refusing to read the textures I am making; it's bizarre and I don't understand it at all.

But, I mentioned details on NCO and Officer classes. Concept for the Squad Leader, a Sergeant (Delgay Mesher):

Yup. I intend to work out a fully working command structure up to, at least, the Company level. The biggest hurdle I ahve to cross is decided on whether I retain the Dari/Pashto language (Which they speak) or switch to Arabic (which is used on all of the signs, except the keypad on Coltan Blues [which is Dari]). The groups and classes in this release are more of a functional placeholder than anything and will be fleshed out more as soon as I progress a little more on my Group configs and determine, exactly, what transports they will be equipped with.

Thanks. Still, alot of work to go.

Update:

Fixed the normal map shadow issue on the commandos. Fixed normal map issues with all soldiers; now they no longer have bumps, stitching, and straps superfluous from their parent characters.

Finalized Enlisted ranks:

I am recovering from a massive loss of data and decided to do get some more things done with this project. I have begun working on the Airborne force component, modeled here by a Corporal:
