since 1.57 i cant lock infantery from air with "next target"

hi

since the latest patch 1.57 i cant lock infantery from any air vehicles with the signed "next target" button on my flightstick or with the TAB button.

all enemy infantery isnt displayed on the radar anymore.....(only i use my method 2 lines below in this text!!)

my question is, is this a bug and will be fixed or is this a "balance" action from BIS ?

the only way atm to lock on infantery from air is with the ..F1 (myself) + 2 (targets) button or Fx(Gunner) + 2(targets) to sign my Gunner a Target....

so, next question was, if it was a "balance" action, this will change what exactly (?) if everyone could kill targeted infantery on the ground from air ?

It's a fix for a bug.

Arrowhead shipped with infantry being lock-able via cycling targets with TAB.

It is only intended to cycle through vehicle or air-units that way, depending on your current weapon, but not infantry.

Now, Arrowhead works exactly like ArmA2 works (which is much better!) :)

Since when does an airplane or chopper able to lock on infantry?

It never has in the game unless Im missing something, and why would it lock, is it locking onto a heat signature give off by a inf unit,

I mean seriously does the AI give off heat or a signal that makes them come up on radar?

From what i gather and dont know what BIS intentions are, if they were intentions at all, in any case

I can only assume that it would force you to use your sights and line up your targets like in the A-10

and take out the inf with guns, which i prefer anyways.

@Günter ...sry that u missed the "lock on infantry", but it still was there...deleted in 1.57

@Nyles ...to "fix" a function (without described in the 1.57 changelog) which is still there (F1 or Fx(Gunner) + 2 (Targets)....) makes not realy sense ?!

Fly a AH64 with an AI Gunner, switch to M230, use Manuel Fire, fly over a target and use

.... (next Target) on your flightstick {now deleted by the "fix")

or

.... lock on target (infantry) via Fx +2 +target

(3 buttons to use instead 1 for the flightstick or like me, use a G19)

the effect are allways the same for the sneaked infantry on the ground...

btw, it seems that the M230 ammo from the AH64 switched from HE to AP since 1.57 .... i coundnt find this in the changelog too...

No, I didn't miss anything, I dont have the game you guys have, just Arma2 and everything before it.

I was just really pondering why infantry would be lockable, or how it would be in terms of it being realistic.

What he is complaining about is a bug, it was fixed because it ruined the game.

When Arrowhead shipped you could lock infantry with the Tablock. Now what that meant is if you were in say, an AH-1Z, you could press tab and detect ANY Enemy within about 10Km. So say if another player was sneaking through a village 3Km away you could just press tab and your AI gunner would light him up like a Christmas tree.

I don't think I should have to explain why this glitch was removed.

It was just plain silly xD
