Arma 2 on Lan for 4 to 7 Players

Hello

Just want to confirm before we take the plunge. Between 4 and 7 of us get together 2 or 3 weekends a year to game on a Lan. We like playing Ghost Recon and OFP games where we can team together against the computer. We see that Steam has the game on sale and all of us are going to buy it. The questions are

1. We can play cooperatively against the computer.

2. 4 to 7 man teams work well vs the computer.

3. We can download new player made missions.

If prices are similar, maybe consider buying it from Sprocket, as sometimes Steam can be a pain for this particular game. And you will get many opinions on that shortly... :rolleyes:

Better buy from Sprocket. From what I get from replies both here and in my clan Steam version is a huge pain in the ass to run mods with.

Steam is very fine to run with mods, just needs a mod launcher. It is almost always just user-end mistakes where on they blame steam.

Don't even need a mod launcher, just make shortcuts...

Drawback with Steam is that it downloads the full game again every time a patch gets released

Arma2 is a sandbox. Its possible to experience many types of games in the engine. As it is a fairly realistic game-- don't get frustrated if your four to seven man team cannot complete every mission. Some missions are of unrealistic size and expectation. Instead try to look for those gems designed to be feasible to accomplish within the scale/capabilities of your group.
