SpecterM 10 Posted November 28, 2010 We are having trouble connecting together to the same server. Can someone help?
larsiano 12 Posted November 28, 2010 a bit more info on what your trying to do would be helpful. but im guessing your trying to connect to the same server both with the same CDkey? this wont work! you can only play on LAN together if im correct only or require mutiple keys. Or if you do both have a own copy and installed as sush it could be a router portforwarding setting problem arma2 needs udp port 2302 / 2308?
visceralsyn 10 Posted November 29, 2010 port forwarding is only required for hosting a server. They need 2 seperate keys for 2 seperate clients to connect to one server. ...Syn...
SpecterM 10 Posted November 29, 2010 no no. I bought my son a separate game and I have a separate game. different cd keys for both games. However. I found a solution. apparently you can launch a steam game chosing which port to launch it on. add this to the launch properties. +clientport 27008 i have steam version. added that. and now connections are fine. visceralsyn 10 Posted November 29, 2010 If i remember right, one or both of those will activate Fade. Both clients with 1 key. ...Syn... ---------- Post added at 01:43 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:38 AM ---------- no no. The valid commandline argument is -port. And as far as I understand, it changes the Port the server is hosted on. I've do not remember reading anywhere of it doing anything for the client. So since you are using whats not an actual valid command. You must have changed something, somewhere else. Or the server you are trying to connect to just started doing what its supposed to do, correctly. ...Syn...
SpecterM 10 Posted November 29, 2010 Im thinking that is a command for steam, not arma2. could that be the difference?

SWAT_BigBear 0 Posted December 1, 2010 Windows home networking. Plug 2nd pc to pc#1 (crossover cable) and pc1 goes to router/modem. Works for me, the pc that connects to the internet has XP, and my others have W7.

trufret 0 Posted December 2, 2010 Some more information would be helpful as I've LAN'd with multiple people playing on a remote server many times without incident. What OS's are you running? How are the PCs connected to each other/the internet? what kind of router/switches are in use if any?
TechnoTerrorist303 10 Posted December 2, 2010 It should work with no problems at all. Make sure there is nothing forwarding ports into stupid places on your router. If you are still getting problems then PM me and I can help you find a solution. If necessary I can remote on to your PC desktop and fix it.
SpecterM 10 Posted December 5, 2010 After changing MANY things. I think I have finally narrowed it down to this -port=25007 and then I opened them ports in my router. gave each pc a static address. we have connected together now 3 times with no issuses.
