spamurai 3 Posted September 22, 2010 Any time I tell a vehicle crewman in a turret to "Scan Horizon" or "Watch Direction" ... they won't stop. I can't get them to revert to their default behavior of monitoring sectors. They endlessly stare in one direction or slowly scan counterclockwise. I can get Infantry to revert to their default behavior by simply ordering "No Target". If I order a crewman out of a vehicle, they become infantry and then I can snap them out of their frozen behavior with "No Target", but that's cumbersome and a bad way of going it. -=seany=- 5 Posted September 22, 2010 Yeah, I think this is one of those bugs that arose between OFP and Arma1. It worked In ofp but changes they made to the vehicle targeting system in Arma1 borked it. CarlGustaffa 4 Posted September 22, 2010 Uhm, I think he's trying to get them out of horizon or direction scanning ;) And no, I haven't figured out a way except making them exit the vehicle for a no target command, then back in. The AI Turret stays "watching direction" or "scanning horizon". Only if you command the AI out of the vehicle can it be fixed properly. (or so it seems to me so far). Should report it. probably would help if you indicated this first and what version it is. I just did a test and I told 1 AI soldier to get into a humvee as gunner, and scan the horizon and then told him to watch a specific direction, and he did, and this is in stock Arma2 patched to 1.07, so it works on my end. Sorry, but you don't understand the problem... the problem isn't getting them to "Scan Horizon" or "Watch Direction, it's getting them to stop once they've started. Again I did a test: test2 for Arma2 Patched to 1.07 -I told 1 AI soldier to get into a humvee as gunner -ordered to scan the horizon he did that -ordered no target and he default back to the view the squad was looking in which was NE -ordered him to watch a specific direction, and he did, then I told him no target and again he returned to default view which the squad was viewing NE. all orders were giving while soldier was in humvee and he did not disembark at any time. -return to formation dont work -command him to 1,6 or stop dont work only one that works for me is F key for the soldier, and then 2,1 no target, for the command. is your issue with Arma2 patched, or is it with OA, or BAF? sprayer_faust 0 Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) This was always a problem for me, also. I just tried both A2 1.07 and OA CO 1.54 and it is still there. I tried exactly what you (Günter) described, nothing worked. The gunner insisted on spinning around. Sorry, I didn't try exactly as you described. It's true. If you are not inside the vehicle (driver), the "no target" order works. However, I want it to work in both cases. EDIT 2: Ah... Gunter Severloh 4067 Posted September 23, 2010 Hmm thats weird, so you had a soldier in your squad seperate from the vehicle, and then told him to get into the vehicle and then scan horizon and then from there tell him no target, and he wouldn't stop? My AI soldier stopped spinning and defaulted to the NE view, as that is the direction we started at in terms of facing. I also starte with an empty vehicle, im wondering if theres a differnce with an empty vehicle and a vehicle that has AI in it already. As for me when I did the test i place myself as a soldier, and 1 Ai in my squad, and then an empty vehicle from the empty section/cars. Maybe its a bug, not sure, i think the real test is when your in a fight againsted enemy how would AI respond then that is in the gunner's seat, you make them 7,2 danger (set them in combat mode), and then 3,5 engage at will. I've got experience with this in multiplayer. I use the "scan horizon" on the tank commander, while I'm driving. (It's very annoying if you by accident choose the gunner instead of the commander -> spinning turret.) How does he respond to the enemy? Once the enemy is spotted, he will engage them and as soon as it is all clear, he will resume his spinning duty. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Were you inside the vehicle? I tired your test and I figured out the difference between what you see and what I see. I was doing everything while in the vehicle, and I think you must be doing it while standing outside the vehicle. When I'm in the vehicle, "No Target" doesn't stop the behavior. If I stand outside the vehicle, "No Target" stops the behavior. This "bug" exists in all versions of ArmA II and even Armed Assault. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
