How will these specs run?

Recommended Posts

After much dicussion and research....... this is what I will have by the end of today):-

i7 860 2.8Ghz 2.5GT processor

8 Gig DDR3 1.333 Ram

Windows 7

2 (crossfire) x 4890 ATI DDR5 (1 Gig) Radeon Cards

P7P55D Pro Motherboard

1 Screen

1 x special edition ARMA 2 Keybord & ARMA 2 Mouse with iron sights

Do you think that this will do?

Toms Hardware said no bottleneck will occur. Tom's guys also suggested that I overclock my CPU.

I notced in ARMA 2 that there is a massive difference in setting being on very high and only high. THe distance is very blurry only on high and much more clear on very high.

Last question:-

How do I turn of grass?

Cool. I want to turn grass of because I cannot see through it when prone. Will this now influence the detail of the trees etc as well???

No, grass belongs to terrain while trees are objects. So object details would have effect on trees.

Although i understand your point, i suggest you get familiar with grass turned on or you will encounter problems when joining a server which doesn't allow turning grass off.

No offence, just an advice.

Point taken.... Unfortunately I live in Africa so there is no such thing as servers for MP.. It is just me against the bloody AI who can spot me through grass in any case....

So basically what that link tells me is that my RIG is crap for ARMA II.......... Great......

No, it's not crap for Arma 2 at al. It's good, but almost no one can run everything at super high with a meeloyon view distance. Anything over 7k is wasted anyway.

I have a virtually identical machine and it runs it perfectly.

You have a good spec pc here better than mine and I run the game ok.

XP 32bit

Q6700

4 gb ram (yes 32bit OS)

ATI 4890 1gb

Crappy RAID 0 array
