Mogas1 10 Posted August 26, 2010 Please, dont't tell me it is a RAM problem all those CTD. Today I got more tham 20 CTDs. I just bought a brand new computer: Processor: Intel® Core i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~1.6GHz Operating System: Windows***7 Édition Familiale Premium 64-bit Memory: 6144MB RAM Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 360M DirectX Version: DirectX 11 (vers. 06/2010). The thing is: My computer is more tham 20 times above the RECOMENDED from you, i said RECOMENDED and not minimun required. For God sake, you must have a solution for this CTD problem. I congrat you guys from Bohemia, to have done this incredible game, but what is the point if we can not play it? Please help me, us, the world. What is the solution for the CTD problem? I have the last update of EVERYTHING installed, game, grafic cards, windows, etc... and the game continue to CTD. Please help. ps. [frl]myke 14 Posted August 26, 2010 Hmmm.... Processor: Intel® Core i7 CPU Q 720 @ 1.60GHz (8 CPUs), ~1.6GHz It's odd, on my DVD Box it says: Recommended: Quadcore CPU (Intel Core 2.8GHz or AMD..... Didn't knew a 1.6GHz is about 20 times faster than a Intel C2Q @ 2.8GHz. I'm pretty impressed about Intel. And FYI, also a GTS 360M is slower than the recommended 8800GT. So come down from your "my laptop is best in the world" and try to provide some useful informations. So far i don't know if you're talking about ArmA 2, Operation Arrowhead or Combined Operations. Also game version is unknown so far. Also find the .rpt file on your laptop and post it's content as this file probably has detailed infos about the cause of the CTD's. Please help me, us, the world. Speak for yourself. As i am part of the "world" i can say i have no problem with CTD's, so it is more than likely that something on your laptop is screwed. S7_Mega 10 Posted August 26, 2010 Do you get any associated error when it crashes? Retail or Steam version?
Nutlink 10 Posted August 26, 2010 A bit arrogant, hmm? You still haven't provided the right information. Things such as: -Video card driver version? -ArmA 2, Operation Arrowhead, or Combined Operations? -Which version of the game? -Is it a straight CTD or is there any sort of error that pops up? -Is Windows up to date and your hard drive defragged? -Did you try turning off Hyperthreading to see if it helped? Just saying "My game crashed, here's my specs" isn't enough. And for the record, that really isn't high end. It's good, but it's not "20x the recommended specs" by any means. I know someone with a laptop almost exactly like yours (ASUS G51JX-A1) and it can have problems stuttering in ArmA 2.
Mogas1 10 Posted August 26, 2010 Bota 49, first of all, thank you for the way you answer. Let me just say, that in any moment I said my pc was the best of the world, or better than this or that ( For sure there are computers better than mine). The expression 20 times better doesen't mean literally 20 times.... This was my way to express my feelings after trying to solve the problem for almost 24 hours after buying something that should work normal. But never mind. Here we go: Nvidea Last update done, Arma 2 operation Arrowhead bought and downloaded from gamersgate.com. The CTD is after the helicopter landing in the very first mission (when I have to get out of the chopper). Windows is up to dqte and HD defragged. And yes, I turned hiperthreading off (got slower FPS), and also PhisyX disable. Thank you again.
[frl]myke 14 Posted August 26, 2010 http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7+720QM+%40+1.60GHz http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?cpu=GeForce+GTS+360M As said, your CPU probably passes "minimal requirements", surely doesn't hit recommended. Same goes for your GPU. I guess your sys is somehwat in between, probably positioned on the lower end. So, please post your ingame video settings aswell the arma2oa.rpt. In the later file we might find more detailed info about the crash and probably we can sort it out what caused the problem. And let me say, i followed a lot of threads like "arma 2 crashes, it must be a bug in the game" which in the end turned out to be a hardware or driver problem. Thanks. what a bad attitude from the OP your statement about your performance is only lying to yourself. Most of the members here can see through that BS a 1.6 Ghz proc and a laptop gfx card is not getting +50 frames on very high settings in this game. :annoy: show me a youtube vid of Benchmark E08 and your display settings. surely you can manage 15 FPS recording with fraps eh? I doubt it!

Mogas1 10 Posted August 27, 2010 Sure I do. The solution was very simple. The new patch released yesterday 1.54. No need to change my grafic card values. Everything in very high, and its working perfect now. Thank you BIS for the patch.

Mogas1 10 Posted August 27, 2010 Ok Guys, I am impressed how you all react after something that the MR. DR. Computer started. As I said, i NEVER said my computer was the best of the world. And I don’t have any interest in comparing my computer with yours. The Mr. Dr. Computer, gave me an answer (the first answer of my question) with elevated degree og arrogance. And after that, he, and all of you, following his arrogance, started to crap my computer. The forum question I posted wasn’t about my computer. Anyways, I am finishing this post, as I have my problem solved, and YES, i get +- 50 FPS in very high grafics(For sure sometimes it falls to 20, 30 etc…). I have a gaming computer, and according to Mr. Dr. Computer, doesn’t macht the recomended requirements. If so, I don’t know why my lap top is in the TOP 10 best gaming laptops in many sites, as you can see here under. http://www.bizwaremagic.com/best_gaming_notebooks.htm http://asia.cnet.com/reviews/notebooks/0,39050495,39241882,00.htm http://computershopper.com/laptops/gaming-laptops/top-5-gaming-laptops (the first pc has the same processor as mine). This all to say, hell not, don’t tell me its a RAM problem. I bought the game, the patch solved my problem, and I very satisfied with this great game, that I will continue to play with my crap computer. Thank you all
[frl]myke 14 Posted August 27, 2010 Please calm down aswell. What goes around, comes around. Please take the time to compare your CPU aswell as your GPU in the performance comparison charts from which 've posted links one page back with CPU/GPU recommended (also check link one page back). You may note that your CPU and also your GPU are listed below recommended hardware. Your I7 720QM is listed on rank 119 while a recommended Core2Quad is listed on rank 69. Looking at your GPU, the chip is listed on rank 73 while a recomended 8800GT is listed on rank 56. Feel free to look yourself, don't take my word for it. http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7+720QM+%40+1.60GHz http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/video_lookup.php?cpu=GeForce+GTS+360M http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Arma_2:_System_Requirements Surely it is a good gaming laptop but not at all comparable with a good gaming desktop. So i would kindly ask you to do us a favour: run the ArmA 2 Benchmark E08 which can be found under Singleplayer -> Missions and post your result. Since a lot of people struggle to find decent settings to play without stuttering, most would be keen to know how you managed to get ~50FPS on very high settings on this hardware. Thanks for your time and effort.
