Enabling global chat for dead players in coop?

Recommended Posts

During Coop games, how to enable dead people being able to chat over global chat?

Why?

The whole idea is that they shouldn't be able to speak with the living -- only other dead players.

I do not care what the idea is, can it somehow be enabled? Being a seagull is painful enough, at least people should be able to chat while being spectator.

Play a less painful mission then? With respawn? I don't think it is possible, and I don't think it should be possible. If you need to do inhouse cheating like this, use messenger or teamspeak. I sure wouldn't like my dead buddies providing intel. It happens over teamspeak and it annoys the crap outta me (at least I can mute them). They can still chat over the group channel where the rest of the dead guys is without posing a "problem" to the remaining players. It's much better if it just stays impossible.

I am playing small coops with friends and vs AI cheating is not much of an issue. Also we can easily agree on not spotting for the living friends while dead.

If it can not be enabled, Are there ways around it?

What a couple of complete useless replies! You think the OP gives a crap about your opinions? ffs they are just asking a simple question about changing the way they play there mission, not enforcing the rest of the world to follow suit.

The more I browse these forums, the more reason I see why this game does not get more popular. Well done jerkoffs.

OP I would try asking for Help in the modding forums, sure someone would be able to help you there, or at least confirm if what your asking can be done. Is no worse than playing with respawns or magic healing system, which 95% of all servers have. lol

Not normally possible. AFAIK, The only way to do it is to enable respawn but not give the respawned players control over their respawned bodies. Also, make sure they're respawned somewhere far away where they aren't affected by the mission.

Or is there some alternative to being a seagull? Especially in night missions? Because being a gull in a mission at night without moonlight means pitch black.

exactly my thoughts, there are numerous occasions you want to be able to chat with the players. (think small coops with friends etc)

OT: A spectator script is what you need. It needs to be integrated with the mission tho. I dont know what is the most common one for A2 but kegety's spectating script is a well known one fomr thew Arma times.

May I ask why not use VOIP. TS, Ventrilo..ect?

Seagul alternative? I wonder also.

I remember RVS and it's option server side to have "ghost cam" or "spectate-team only" options.

Correct, dead men tell no tales.

Well, I wonder what you are doing when you die at the start of a longer coop in the middle of the night. Seagulls do not have nv goggles in reality either, so using the "not realistic" argument is not exactly working.

Currently, spawning as a seagull is painful. First there is a long zooming around and silly camera rotation, then you get to fly a wobbly seagull.

That being said, which spectator script is easy to use and does have nightvision (and thermal if possible).

Who cares if he cares or not? He post a question, we answer. The answer was already stated that no, it's not possible. Just added "and it shouldn't be either by default".

Since that obviously qualifies me as a jerkoff, well, have fun on my iList... Remember who started the namecalling :j: As far as I can see, I gave two valid suggestions not involving the builtin chat.

Seagulls do not have nv goggles in reality either, so using the "not realistic" argument is not exactly working.

Suggest in the tracker that we spawn as owls instead - they have excellent "night vision" :D I'd vote for it. I agree, bird spawn at pitch dark night without moon is kinda hopeless.
