Yeah but here's a reality check, wives don't like them in the dishwasher.

I'd never make that mistake. Having a wife.

Then you will never know the love of a good dishwasher. :)

How do you turn your dishwasher into a snow blower? Hand her a shovel.

Actually, I notice very little difference between ammuntion types with my suppressor.

Except that the subsonics are 4p more expensive.

I doubt I will bother paying the extra 4p in future purchases.

I dunno more than that i tested one suppressed Mosin-Nagant, with supersonic 7.62x53 Lapua Trainers. Quite big BLOP-sound! Didn't buy it thou, wasn't even moose accurate (over 10 cm grouping at 100 meters from full support. My current rifle has just 2cm). Worthless in other words. Suppressor was decent model thou and only reason for me to not buy it was poor accuracy. It had Burris scope with reddot and weaver rail attached. Really modernized Mosin/Nagant from 1934 :D

Sure shotgun is different matter as it's ammo is usually subsonic. Some do reach 400 m/s, but speed goes to 300 m/s quite fast. Past 10 meters if i recall statics right, depending of pellet size ofcourse. Heavy magnum shots have slower muzzle speeds because pressure issues. Slug could be another thing and they probably keep velocity to much longer distances, i haven't much looked into those...

and like OA and like the real deal.

I love it the DOD decided to finally buy some "tacticool" things like rails, lasers, flashlights, grippod and aimpoint.

weapons evolve, the real military will adopt and hollywood will reflect that as will the gaming industry with products like MW2

Yep. No matter how well made, it is still just a reflex-suppressor. Dunno how much one *can* advance in that area aside from trying to reduce the zero-shift.

making them durable and inproving the QD system.

As far as I know, subsonic shotgun ammuniton is petty rare. I had a devil of time finding a stockist.

@Mr Bump

I don't think you are supposed to clean your silencer. A layer of soot is recommended before it is optimised.

I just shake it out once in a while when the soot gets so thick it starts rattling around in there.

True. Typically they seem to be 360-380 m/s with 36 gram loads, heavy magnum's might have around 350m/s. But pellet swarm soon looses it's velocity to less than speed of sound is. 5-10 meters if i recall with typical hunting pellets, 3-4mm.

Reloading is a fine skill if you want a specific kind of ammunition without paying extra.

Yeah. UNA-18 loads have made me mind sparkle and seems that they sell bare pellets instead of readily loaded shotshells. Insane performance from what i've seen, totally surpassing any other material. 2kg of UNA-18 pellets cost 100€ in local hunting store. Ouch! Not cheap, but performance is good. Would probably cost around 5-6€ per preloaded shot. I figured 3€ would be the price if i load them myself.

Should learn to reload own shots...

"Reloading for Shotgunners" is a good read. It includes detailed procedures and an insane amount of load data sheets for different types of shells.

It's normally cheaper to buy premade ammunition unless you are after something very specialised.

My friends hand load because it's cheaper. I don't because it's tedious.

Slightly OT this 9mm bullet just detonated in a cabinet behind me. :butbut:

O_O

That's... weird.

At least a bullet that goes off outside of a firearm doesn't have lethal energy... but I think that's a severe eye hazard.

My concerns would be more focused on the source of the spontaneous ignition. Static electricity? Heat? It sounds like there might be a risk of fire.

No there is a dent in the primer, I believe something fell on it. Everything was blown out of the cabinet though so I'm not sure what. lol Yeah the only harm I suffered is the ringing in my left ear.

My friends hand load because they can circumvent firearms laws and make silly ammuniton.

Here in the U.K. the individual components cost more than the factory finished article. It's for enthusiasts only.

I was looking at getting myself an explosives cabinet. Looking at your picture, I'm glad I haven't.

Turning this into a gun thread. :) I came off the range yesterday and started to play ARMA. I noticed the smell of fresh cordite adds so much to the immersion we need to package it as an add on for our non shooting friends.

Lets package a machine gun with it too, now that will be fun. :D

Even if all the bullets struck the vest and didn't penetrate, the trauma and force alone would be enough to kill you.

Nonsense, or else they would also kill the guy firing the weapon. Funny article but I was surprised they didn't select "getting hit by a bullet sends you flying 10m" as myth #1.
