Militant1006 11 Posted August 17, 2010 Sorry guys if this has been posted, but i've searched heaps and haven't found anything, anyway, how do you separate OA and vanilla ArmA 2? I've tried alot but it seems to not be working, i got my ArmA 2 copy in January and have got OA about a month ago, how do you separate them? they were combined on installation and i don't know what to do. markushaze 10 Posted August 17, 2010 Hello Why would you want to separate them? I use a launcher, this one for example: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8241 It works great, lets you easily choose the mods and parameters you want. No more fiddling with the target line and best of all, you can start A2, OA, or Combined Ops separately:-). So no need to separate what belongs together :-) have fun
Militant1006 11 Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) by the way i need to separate them because a server i'm trying to get on only allows OA standalone. EDIT: sorry markushaze i can't separate them with the game launcher, I need someone to help me with separating the files necessary to run OA from the ArmA 2 vanilla ones, i have tried to separate them, but i am coming up with the error "Unable to open languagefile "lang.ini"" Do you know where thats from? i have no clue. Defunkt 431 Posted August 17, 2010 I don't see how the server could prevent you connecting with A2, content from both is signed by the same key, it doesn't matter if you have OA or CO, the A2 classes are inert unless used by the mission.
Militant1006 11 Posted August 17, 2010 Defunkt, are you aware of the AEF LIFE server? I spoke to them on TS and they said i need OA only, no ArmA 2 vanilla or it won't work. I thought the same thing but it is puzzling me beyond belief.

Militant1006 11 Posted August 17, 2010 We're getting off topic, my question is how do you separate A2 and OA? I've tried pretty much everything i know.

I had this problem too solved now..., I reinstalled OA in a different directory and used the above mentioned launcher to create 2 diff shortcuts, eg: A2CO "D:\Games\Bohemia Interactive\OA\arma2OA.exe" "-mod=D:\Games\Bohemia Interactive\Arma 2;Expansion;ca" OA "D:\Games\Bohemia Interactive\OA\arma2OA.exe" "-mod=Expansion" Dirty work around i suppose but it does the trick, when just 1 buddy is on with OA i use the OA shortcut.. etc Find this whole situation a bit weird though i would've thought that A2CO users could get on any server and V,V. Wolfrug 0 Posted August 17, 2010 You reinstalled the whole thing? :p For me the installation took like 6 hours, so there's no way I'm ever, ever, ever again reinstalling any of these games (well, unless I absolutely have to, of course). Anyway, you can also separate them using Deadfast's Combined Operations Disabler, which at least as far as I can tell actually works. Just "disable" CO, then run the arma2oa.exe, and you're golden :) But oh well, too late for that I guess... Regards, Wolfrug

b0b 10 Posted August 17, 2010 Dunno if it would work like that registry entries and all may have to reinstall anyway, if you really wanna try though show spoiler for file list... don't forget to back up what your doing or you will HAVE to reinstall ;) Not sure but you may have to delete ( after backing up :P ) your OA config settings also in my docs. Possibility you might also have to regedit ... have fun lol. Militant1006 11 Posted August 17, 2010 I was wondering, where do you put the COdisabler.exe? do you put it in your ArmA 2 directory or your documents? or do you just leave it in the zip file. ---------- Post added at 08:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:53 AM ---------- Guys i did it! if you want to know how to separate files i will post the files i needed, i can't right now because i'm busy. Hatsune Miku 10 Posted August 23, 2010 "ArmA 2 vanilla" surely means the original game, as said I don't think an OA server can reject a CO client and there's no reason why it ought. There is. Signatures have proven to be somewhat useless alongside battleeye and pbo hacking. The equalModLine paramater has been enabled, but has an empty value, meaning that all clients must start with the same mod line as the server or no mod line at all. Because CO treats OA as an addon, the server will deny entry to those clients. The only workaround i've heard is to have OA run seperately which apparently means reinstalling it to run standalone. Whilst i've noticed it does not stop the issue entirely, it lowers the amount of scriptkiddies going off their face incidents to about one or two a week, which i've found is far better option than having to sit there and just tolerate having to restart the server every couple of hours.
