LCAC - alpha version

Recommended Posts

i'm releasing this version of the lcac to the community, as i lack the time needed to continue it.

LCAC on armaholic

This version only have 1 resolution lod, which is almost totally unwrapped (unwrapping has been made by ABS)

the included demo mission is the floating script, which allows the lcac to go at high speeds overwater. (the script basis came from a proof of concept (not mine) done for OFP, which was given to the community back then)

the script is creating an invisible boat with a roadway on it, when the lcac goes overwater(so the lcac simply moves on it). once the lcac goes back over land, the boat is deleted.

So feel free to modify it as you want, i think this game need this kind of addons :)

Thanks sgt_flyer.

As I'm the type of addon maker who likes .... "different" stuff, I'll be downloading and seeing what I can do, but only after I get home at the end of the month.

Lookin forward to see what magic could be possible.

Gnat, someone told me that the LHD is empty inside... Any chance to have backdoors open?

I just can't figure out why ARMA2 didn't start the main campaign with an island invasion...

for access to the LHD insides (to be usable), i think it will require a whole new LHD (or at least, the MLOD from BIS for modifications)

I know I know...anyway i could be fun even to "spawn" the LCAC behind if we don't have the MLOD in the end.

i've made a small test for comparing this lcac to bis LHD : the lcac could fit through the door (but a tight squeeze) and it looks like the LHD is not high enough above water. (at least the rear textured backdoor)

Since I am still relatively new here, can we not just email BIS, asking permission to release the MLOD? So as to either modify the LHD or create a new one?

By "can WE not just email" I mean someone like myself or any other?

Just a thought. Thanks Sgt_Flyer for doing the test though.

LHD_Navantia_4.gif

It's not the LHD from the game, but it gives an idea of the flotation line of boats inside.

The problem is that the LHD is able to change his flotation line. When he goes "up" (no water in the bay) LCAC can enter (this is because LCAC cushion deflate when he's "off") . When they sink a couple of meters, they can receive other standard landing crafts...

Theorically 2 LCAC should be able to fit until the internal ramp of access.

Both LCAC's have both front and back ramps deployed during charging operation...vehicles go to the "last" LCAC first, then to the other.

Hope this other pic also helps.

Regards to both!Excellent job and sorry for my poor english.

I would LOVE to see a fully operation LHD (even if it can't move) as a starting point for Marines on some multiplayer one-side domination type scenarios. An Abrams rolling of the LCAC would be badass.

Wow, is it necessary to dig up an old thread just to ask for an update? I thought it was something important. Just send the author a PM.

I agree though.

15th MEU is attempting to pick up the project as we already have a working and viable LPD.

We're keeping everything in house for the time being. However, we are in a midst of filming a promotional video including the LPD, possibly the LCAC, if we can get the movement right on the thing.

Note - just because we're keeping them in house does not mean we will not be eventually releasing them to the public.
