Problem with my terrain size and satmap (fail to generate layers at 1m/px, overlap..)

Hi Guys

Working on a pretty large scale map and I am having trouble with the satmap/mask layer generation.

Some stats of my map:

Grid size: 4096 X 4096

Cell size: 7.5m

Terrain size: 30720m

Sattelite map size: 30720 x 30720 px (desired)

Res: 1m/PX (dito)

Tile size: 2048 x 2048 (tried several other sizes)

Desired overlap: 16 px

Texture layer 30x30m

So the problems I have is that it refuses to generate layers if I use a 1m/Px resolution ("Layers generation: Default Satellite File doesn't exist!" error). It will generate layer if I go at 2m/Px resolution but it is obviously not as good as the desired res of 30720x30720. Does anyone have any thing I can try to fix this?

The second problem is that I have boatload of overlap issues when I generate layers at 2m/PX / 15360 x 15360 and 2048 tile size with desiered overlap 16px and 30x30m. It won't let me generate layers at anything smaller than 2048x2048 tile size so can't test with sinething that would yield smaller actual overlap.

I guess this could be fixed if manually entered all the values but I need to know what the values means first... obviously..

I would trying using smaller segment sizes but also change the texture later size as well and see if it will generate. I'm using 4096x7 and mine generate fine. I can check to see what my settings are when I get home.

Please do. It seems very arbitrary and random this error. It already annoys me I couldn't use the 8192x8192 heightfield I had.. (actually have 15k x 15k :) ) so I wont accept running at quarter resolution

Which files do I need to delete when redoing the tiles to ensure there are no old errors carried over? I still get complete BS tiles. But the good news is I managed to rectify my roads in global mapper so now I get all the roads for free :)

I would like to ask if anyone has gotten a satmap larger than 20480x20480 px to generate tiles and if so what settings did you use?

Yes. I used small tiles. 512x512

I have a 32768px sat image working nicely on a 2048x4m terrain, had a lot of issues with the 4096x2m...

My settings must be:

Grid size: 2048 X 2048

Cell size: 4m

Terrain size: 8192m

Sattelite map size: 32768 x 32768 px

Res: 0.25m/PX

Tile size: 2048 x 2048

Desired overlap: 16 px

Texture layer 32x32m

But I'm not 100% sure as I'm not at home.

Ok, well that is good. I tried a lot of different combos today but can't get it to generate. SO I dont know what is up. Could someone help me by creating a dummy terrain with these settings:

Grid size: 4096 X 4096

Cell size: 7.5m

Terrain size: 30720m

and try to get a resolution of as close to 1m/PX as possible? THe closest I can get now is 1.5 which is 20480 x 20480.. It's better than 2m/Px but still not good enough I think. 1.0 or 1.2 which both should be possible fail to generate.

Thanks.. But I still think it is my particular combo of grid size, cell size and terrain satmap size that is causing my problems. We should btw make a "known good configurations" thread.
