kimmo 10 Posted August 18, 2011 hi all I have created this map random on L3DT, now as charge on VISITOR 3 exactly the same. This is my training for making land THIS IS MAP: <script src='http://img810.imageshack.us/shareable/?i=terrainmh.png&p=tl' type='text/javascript'></script><noscript></noscript>
bushlurker 46 Posted August 18, 2011 Well done kimmo! That's looking good! Entirely made in L3DT?.. Excellent!... The "design map" part of L3DT looks quite powerful... I'll have to have a go with it sometime... To import into Visitor you can "export as" .PNG and make a matching .pbl file - then import into Visitor just like in Sgt Ace's Tutorial... or you can export from L3DT as an ".XYZ" file - that will also import directly into Visitor... (no .pbl file required for XYZ import) B

mugaben 10 Posted August 18, 2011 (edited) Hi Kimmo. Right click on heightfield tab -> export layer There you should be able to see everything needed for exporting the filetype, name, directory etc. Remember to backup and save before importing anything. Check your visitor file parameters, sizes and everything after import. If it chances after import (with XYZ at least) you might need to check the resize button when exporting as I have to do. Edit: Importing it in visitor is just as simple. Just project -> import terrain from xyz (or from picture but xyz is much much faster) Edited August 18, 2011 by MugAben
bushlurker 46 Posted August 18, 2011 *edit* - Dampet beat me to it! - and much more detailed too! You export the "Heightfield" in .png or .xyz as your... well... Heightfield... that's your actual Terrain You can also sometimes make use of the L3DT "Attributes" layer - and its matching "Texture" layer - if you've made them - you can export them as .png's and they can form a good basis for your "Mask_lco" and "Sat_lco" files B

bushlurker 46 Posted August 18, 2011 export the AM (Attributes Map) layer - just like you did with the texture... the two should match... but the Attributes mask just has simple single colours for each texture-type... B
kimmo 10 Posted August 18, 2011 I have saved AM as Mask_Ico.png and I must now create the file layer.cfg??? I can use all the colors or only that of the MAPLEGGEND <script src='http://img268.imageshack.us/shareable/?i=maskico.png&p=tl' type='text/javascript'></script><noscript></noscript>
icebreakr 3159 Posted August 18, 2011 You can use any color, just specify it right. As I can see you have 4 colors to specify. Use one of tutorials to complete that, I recommend Sgt. Ace's.
