Not just yet. But Next Gen is Possible.
RushHour replied to CaptainAzimuth's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Agreed on every point made. When you have a product like VBS3, it makes no sense whatsoever to have Arma 3 in any way to challenge that product. So basically what you are saying is that it´s more cost effective to instead of copy and paste the graphical fidelity from VBS3 to Arma 3, you spend years developing a system you know is inferior. Makes sense. (not) -

It´s really not. All you have to ask yourself is how do you justify VBS3 if Arma had the same features. Really, ask yourself that. It´s the same engine, same physX. -
Simplest way to record gameplay video?
RushHour replied to Barabara's topic in ARMA 3 - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
From what i´ve seen on Youtube, Shadowplay is a revolution in videocapture. I use Fraps but that´s because i only have 580´s, need a 6-series card. -

VBS3 is the reason we don´t have it. Because how do you justify corporations buying VBS3 if Arma 3 is identical in features and size? You can´t so what you do is nerf Arma 3 to create a separation of the two. The existence of VBS3 is harming Arma 3 in my opinion. when a new VBS arrives with new features, VBS3´s features might be present in Arma 4. So there´s always a gap. -

RushHour replied to jgbtl292's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
It´s obvious this isn´t arma 3. It´s Arma 2 with new graphics and some minor touch-ups. Maybe in 2-3 years it will actually be good. -
This. Right now you can shoot an AI in the face, he will do his little dangle then start shooting back at you like you just shot him with a BB gun. If you take a bullet in the face you are OUT. You might survive(after ten hours of intense surgery) but you won´t be standing around firing at other people.

Is this arma 3 or Maffa 3? -
Nope doesn´t do sh*t frankly. And it´s in offline mode not on a server where what specs you have on your computer is rendered useless for the majority of the time.

Best video i have ever seen in my life. The Sax guy dance just killed me completely :D

That´s great but AA settings does exactly ZERO difference in Arma. Neither does Ultra to Standard. We are talking if you are lucky, about 2-3 fps. In other games that gap is 20-30 fps.

‘Simulation fever’ - No bipods without weapon resting?
RushHour replied to Mirudes's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
It was obviously a mistake by BIS to have missed this detail. Which is fun since supposedly it´s all about CQC and infantry focused. It´s almost like having cars but you can´t really drive them. or you can only go front left and back, never right. -
Anyone else having the last 4 bullets in a magazine as tracer bullets even though it´s a regular STANAG mag? Played a friends mission yesterday and we both realized the last 3-4 bullets were tracers for some reason. Is this a DEV bug?

2:53 Absolutely ridiculous landing there mate.

I know how to gear up the soldier but it´s f*kin annoying. Harzach, maybe they should just give you a C++ book for Arma 4 and a guide on how to build the game from the ground up..."you only have to do it once...." This is a basic feature that should be in the game, playing around with scripts just to choose your loadout is caveman style gaming. Let´s make it an option, the guys who love scripts can spend time doing that while the rest uses a common thing called drag´n´drop.

BBC News features ArmA in Red Cross call to not encourage War Crimes in games.

He went to a shooting range as well. Perhaps we should ban that too.... He stayed at hotels too, perhaps the hotels made him kill a lot of people. Or....just maybe.....the guy was a psychopath regardless of what he liked doing. He wasn´t allowed to buy a hand gun either but for some reasons buying a Remington 12-gauge is perfectly ok. Maybe we should ban gun stores as well. Let´s all just ignore the fact that he was a psychopath and try and look for what he liked doing... -
Arma 3 Engine - What would have been a better option and what can we learn?
RushHour replied to squirrel0311's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
How exactly would that ruin your experience? Please write down in detail how that possibly could affect your mission. You don´t need to simulate a battle you can´t see. You only need to know the result of it. -
Losing interest in the game - terrible performance with (mid) high end rig.
RushHour replied to A. GrayFOX's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Yes GPU´s does nothing in the game. Go from Standard to Ultra and i swear to god it changes 2 fps. Do that in Crysis, a game that actually utilize the GPU power and see if there´s a 2fps difference from standard to ultra. My two GTX 580´s are on vacation at the moment... -

No what it´s really about is the stupidity of the people at Red Cross. It´s no different then animal organisations screaming at Rockstar because you can kill dogs in the game. It´s no different then civilians in movies getting assassinated. A stupid argument for stupid people to argue about. "ohh we should not make Godfather movies because they can promote starting up a gang and create an empire..." You know...stupid shit. No matter how much i play NHL i will never be Gretzky. No matter how many people i kill in GTA i will never be a serial killer. But stupid people think like that and want to push their ignorant ancient agenda on the gaming industry. You should educate yourself on neuroscience and what makes killers in this world, perhaps then you will realize how STUPID this argument is. -

I think it´s clear you have misunderstood the whole thing here. ..and here too. If you think what sets apart Arma from other games simply by knowing where every single person is at all times then i don´t know what to say. -

Agreed, the incredible thing is that you can actually download the CryEngine for free today and learn the ins and outs of it before buying a license and start creating a game you can actually sell. Star Citizen went to kickstarter and has raised something in the order of 20 million right now. I´m pretty sure a group of dedicated game developers can get half of that and produce a very fine game indeed. -
Arma 3 Engine - What would have been a better option and what can we learn?
RushHour replied to squirrel0311's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
You could have this "activation" just outside your visual distance. It´s just incredibly performance taxing keeping check of people on the other side of the map for absolutely no reason at all. If one of them sends over a missile then it can activate, if you fly an UAV then your visual scope will be the UAV and yourself. Right now it seems it´s everything, all at once. Yea that´s a good option imo. Same with the civilian spawn thing. Completely useless to spawn Civs all over the map instead of just spawning them right outside your visual scope. It doesn´t have to no. Because it´s useless information knowing what a guy does on the other side of an island. It only start to be relevant if let´s say they fire a missile at your destination. But apart from that it just drains performance for no reason whatsoever. And i don´t believe other engines need to do this just to compete with Arma, this is hardly the key feature separating Arma from other games. -

And this is the main problem as well. When i´m 20km away from a guy driving a car i don´t need to know anything other then his position on the map, that´s the only relevant thing i need to know. -

Great, then we´ll just wait until we get an accurate represantation of pain when you get shot in the head, see how many wants to go to war in real life after that. This argument is as stupid as the GTA argument that people will go insane because you can steal cars in GTA or do what you want. Usually this is old farts that are hanging on their last life line and just have no concept of the gaming industry or how it affects players. There´s no mention of movies either or documentaries, books or even previous history where you can read in detail about the misery. Some guy wanted to tax the gaming industry as well, yea that´ll work you *****..........
