are you one of the individuals who think their strict / short-sighted logic is correct? welcome to the real world - it involves more variables than just A or B. it's not that simple. IF A2 had no campaign at release, then it missing in A3 may be justifiable, but not in this case + A3 campaign delay was announced way too close to release date. Means there were lots of doubts and design choices, implying anything (bad quality? wrong direction? you name it).
-
how can a release without a campaign (one of the main features in previous Arma games, essential part of OFP's spirits) be justifiable in any sane way? you're clearly the one who's being delusional.

Arma 3 Engine - What would have been a better option and what can we learn?
Polygon replied to squirrel0311's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
I remember Maruk having his word on BIF on RV engine performance and optimization possibilities. It was clearly stated that... - the number of threads avaiable for resource handling won't improve current RV's state (not possible even in theory?) - engineers / programmers are working hard on expanding RV (cannot recall specific stuff) however, nothing about efficiency improvement of resource handling in threads was mentioned. BI should simply assemble a tech team with an intent to improve/keep up to date and sell their technology in the future for market needs. -
BIS = yet another proof of project leads incompetent at the highest levels. how else should we, the ones keeping the game alive, put it?

Will anyone fix currently terrible fatigue system? it's overdone, and whatnot.

Arma 3 Engine - What would have been a better option and what can we learn?
Polygon replied to squirrel0311's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
realtime immersive (based on cryengine tech) shows aerial vehicles and their control is possible (at least from their marketing videos). however, creating an actual functional simulation system real-time is a different matter from including in a video. by the way, RTI may be already dead. nobody conquers the niche VBS has taken long ago. -
A3: All in Arma (AiA) Mission control center (MCC) Taosenai's Realism (TAO_) tpw_mods (for SP) A2/A2CO: Cold War Rearmed 2 (CWR2) ACE2 Project RACS Unsung 2.5 Operation Frenchpoint (OFpr) A1: CWR1 ACE1

snakes can still open doors (on Altis). spotted in NATO showcase. by bad mission design, BI refused to ditch the current flawed ambient life system for official missions. this breaks immersion as it looks weird.

does assigning a diary entry to a local object (_diary1) and using deleteVehicle works? (not tested, just speculation.)

Iron Front could've been much more without any publisher that only makes things worse (Deep Silver) and discontinues support of a game if it's not "too profitable". Even as a Steam exclusive, IF2 would be great for WW2 and war lovers alike.

I find Arma 3's lack of searchlight and other useful static entities disturbing.

@pedersen: nobody's working on such a mod, AFAIR. it will require new skeleton with correct animations for the best quality. loads of complex work, doing it for free? certainly an issue.

Intro for an mission help!

for playing a track, just use playMusic "trackName"; this way, you can control music's volume easily with fadeMusic command. more on that here: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/fadeMusic -
Return locked target?

does this hit close enough? http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/laserTarget -
try setvehicleammo: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/setVehicleAmmo or setvehicleammodef: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/setVehicleAmmoDef however, both may affect all types of ammunition. edit: or this: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/addMagazineTurret

Sakura, will you add sounds to door opening action / anim? This heavily affects immersion for lots of people. Please do. Great work on the improvements, overall!

ARMA 3 Addon Request Thread
Polygon replied to max power's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
no, but Cold War Rearmed 2 (for Arma 2 Combined Ops) is what you're looking for. hopefully, we'll see CWR3 someday. -
I haven't seen any campaigns for A3 yet, so is there any need for a campaign folder in your A3 directory? if you refer to missions downloaded in MP, you'll find them in AppData (hidden folder: must unhide it in Windows folder options) A3 folder.

is shk_taskmaster reliable while using on dev build? I get a "#define FACTIONLIST..." error while launching the script with "call compile preprocessfilelinenumbers "shk_taskmaster.sqf";" in the editor. unable to figure out what's wrong.

Just make this a ticket on the feedback tracker to get people's attention.

Unable to edit loadouts on briefing - any alternative? BIS?
Polygon posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
No ability to edit loadouts on the briefing phase before the mission is one of the biggest A3 features missing. This makes scavenging in SP-based missions (for example, OFP Resistance campaign) useless. Bullshit, right? Is there any alternatives to this (made by community?)? Removing gear selection doesn't make any sense. BIS, if you can't handle enhanced inventory system for gear selection menu, just let us know. But DON'T remove the actual feature that was fully working in A2CO. Even partially functional it will be much more useful than nothing. Madness. -
STALKERGB's British Infantry
Polygon replied to STALKERGB's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Great stuff, STALKER. Hungry for more! ;) -
There should be a default function (besides Splendid tools) for ' Visual View ' with all vehicles simply spawned in lines and a white dialog with black text in it floating over all vehicles (using onEachFrame {}; ), so people with a couple simple edits could see all stuff for their own mods etc. BIS?

I thought an official release of A2CO MLODs was an obvious thing for most people after BIS' excelllent move of presenting A1 content. Shall not be surprised. ---------- Post added at 16:07 ---------- Previous post was at 16:06 ---------- I thought an official release of A2CO MLODs was an obvious thing for most people after BIS' excelllent move of presenting A1 content.
