Persistent Database and Resupply
Ranwer135 replied to tebbbs's topic in ARMA 3 - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Alright, well I'll accept what you have said there. Look, I didn't really want to start an argument anyway, so can we please just shake hands and let the train keep going? The discussion was going nowhere and it was becoming irritating for you and for me. I do appreciate for the fact that this is a Database system, even though it is only for ACE3. So again, can we just shake hands and move on? :) -
I would have to agree with the others on this, Having different parts of the DLC priced is a very dangerous move, as it may (and probably will) tear up the whole community and the definition of ArmA fans. Not only that, many will feel that the game will be more of an 'in-app purchases' game, like you would see with the popular ones on Google Play (Not mentioning them, but they get advertised all over the TV). However, purchasing DLC/s as a whole is more satisfying (and rewarding) than buying parts of the DLC. There might even be a situation in the game where the player may need a specific weapon for the campaign, and he may have not purchased it yet. So really, I think the way BIS is going is pretty great so far. :)

Removal of the 2D editor - why - options are good, workflow slowdown for modders

Damn, I'm going to miss the 2D editor a lot. :cry2: -
Binocular model issue with hands - First person view
Ranwer135 posted a topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
G'day guys, I am trying to figure out why my custom model appears to be outside of the player's hands in first person view (different animations have no effect on solving the issue, either): Whereas in third person it is completely fine, as shown here: I have also adjusted the position of the model and still no solution. The model inherits from the binocular class, which my config looks like this: class CfgWeapons { class Binocular; class DSS_SodaEquip_F: Binocular { author = "Rawner135"; descriptionShort = "$STR_DSS_Item_CanteenFilled_Desc"; displayName = "$STR_DSS_Item_CanteenFilled"; distanceZoomMax = 0; distanceZoomMin = 0; model = "\dss_items\models\Can_Equipped.p3d"; modelOptics = ""; opticsZoomInit = 0.05; opticsZoomMax = 0.05; opticsZoomMin = 0.01; picture = "\dss_items\inv\CanRedgull_ca.paa"; scope = 2; visionMode[] = {}; weaponInfoType = "RscOptics_Rangefinder"; }; }; The model also has the following Memory LOD points (since it is considered to be a 'weapon'): - konec hlavne - usti hlavne - Nabojniceend - Nabojnicestart - zbran Does anyone know why the model causes this first person issue? I have tested the other binoculars and they seem to work fine. If anyone could help solve this issue, that would be appreciated. :) Best Regards, Rawner135 -
Hello, :) I am sorry to hear that the mod is not up to your expectations. If you like, you may want to try out the vanilla mission for ArmA 3. you can find it Here (However, the mission is outdated and may be getting attention in the coming months). The file size for both the mod and requirements are below 200 mb, so it is not really big to download either.

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE: As you know, I have decided to not bring over 3rd party content (as seen above). So from last night, I have done a rough (but nice) sketch on the water bottle with 3DS Max 2015: The model may look a bit bland, but it will be fitted with _nohq and _smdi textures that will give it more depth and realism (as done with the soda cans above). After the water bottle is complete, I will then work on the food tins and resume my progress on the canteen bottle. ;)

Hey guys, I have updated the above two posts about using external model/s. There was really no point in using them anyway, as the vertex and face count is ridiculously too high (And it feels wrong to use them anyway, as they are not my creations). So in conclusion, no external models will be used, but instead, I'll continue to create my own. :) Again, any feedback about the mod or its development is welcomed and appreciated! :D

SQL : character ":" causes error
Ranwer135 replied to raptor2x's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I believe there is a command called 'onChar' which you can put into your dialog config. You can find more info here: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/User_Interface_Event_Handlers -
OO PDW - oriented object Persistent Data World
Ranwer135 replied to code34's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Hey code34, I noticed that iniDBI2 is optional, but I also noticed some SP commands in the github example mission. Does this script and iniDBI2 work on dedicated servers in a persistent way? Thanks, :) Rawner135 -
SQL : character ":" causes error
Ranwer135 replied to raptor2x's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
I may haven't checked out extDB yet, but use this code before your DB logs the input: if (!((_answerText find ":") isEqualTo -1)) exitWith {hint "Input is wrong, try again!"}; -
Object helpers and setObjectTexture image
Ranwer135 replied to thetrooper's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Texture must be .paa format. -
Raw meat:- To cook meat, you need to do the following: 1. Build a fireplace. 2. Place your raw meat into the fireplace's inventory. 3. Look at fireplace (have to be close to it as well), then scroll and click the action 'Cook Menu'. 4. Select your meat in the list, then press 'Cook'. :) If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll add it to my fix list for coming patch. Object Attachment: - Thanks for letting me know of the bug. I'll add it to my fix list for coming patch.

Yes, you can. Easy-to-use modules are found in the editor under the category 'DSS'. As for the required mods, you will only need CBA. The rest are just modifiers for a bolt-action rifle (custom animations for the gun are planned to reduce the number of required mods). :)

Any feedback on the mod is welcomed, by the way. :)

The next model to work on is a P.E.T. Bottle designed by Tzanislav. Again, I have linked the License and FAQ above if anyone wants to have a read. As with the model, it is marked as 'freeware' and 'All Extended Uses'. If anyone would like to know where I have found the model, you can find it Here. The reason I am going to use these models, is to save development time. I have got too much on my plate at the moment, so I need to half the time it takes to recreate most items in Objects (Small). But as always, I will credit the author and provide links to the License and FAQ in respect of AMAR's policy of ArmA. EDIT: No point in using other people's models anyway. Their poly is way too high (including number of vertexes and faces), so I'll just as well create my own models, meh. :P

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE: Improved model and new textures for soda can. Here is a picture of the new four variants ;): Before that, I made another video showing the improvements of the first person view when holding the item, as well as tweaks to the model and animation: Additional notes: During the year (or possibly in the coming week), I managed to find some models that can be used for any purpose (as long as you credit them and mention the license). The latest photos of the canteen and soda can are created by myself, but again, in the coming weeks I will let you guys know of these upcoming 'freeware' models. You can view their FAQ and/or License, if you are unsure. :) EDIT: I'll just as well create my own models. Many models out there have a high number of vertexes and faces. So really there's no point using them anyway.

Wish they made a VSTOL aircraft like the F-35, that would be awesome! :bounce12:

Binocular model issue with hands - First person view
Ranwer135 replied to Ranwer135's topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
da12thMonkey was spot on! :icon_w00t: The problem was the button that I have highlighted in the photo below: In the model, I had forgotten to take off the custom colour I applied to one of the parts of the model, due to creating the texture while UV mapping. That being said, I had an itch in myself that something was wrong, so I checked the Face Properties and sure enough it had something of an RGBA appearance. Thanks to you guys, it now finally works! Cheers! - Rawner135 -
Whats happened to this community
Ranwer135 replied to gaz1971's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
What the hell are you saying there...? You, my friend, need to lighten up a bit. Sometimes modders feel that they want to make something funny (take Goat Simulator as an example game). Second, all mods adapt to ArmA, except when you have to deal with users that don't read the instructions properly... The real problem is that nobody plays them!!! I have spent months creating my mod DSS, and the popularity died out in under 3 weeks. Second, modders claim their creation in-game because of incidents where the person using the mod did not credit who made it. Thirdly, Modders deserve to show ownership of their creation, especially when you have pricks going about on the internet ripping content illegally. If I have to, I'll might as well throw you The Book of ArmA's Policy. It's their decision. If they don't want to learn how to use or play ArmA 3, they'll might as well go back to CSGO or whatever FPS they are usually doing. Not only that, since Epoch, Breaking Point, Altis Life, and EXILE take the spotlight. There are now very few Tactical Realism Units around, which makes players think that ArmA 3 is just a game, not a tactical military simulator. First of all, Zombies & Demons has gained a lot of popularity, including by some famous YouTubers like FrankieonPCin1080p. The creator of that mod relentlessly spent hard work on the animations and code, making it for what it is. Second, Ravage and DSS are recently created mods, which have barely hatched out of their egg yet. Just like in DayZ Standalone, these mods will get better overtime, so don't expect everything to be on your F'n shelf. Thirdly, your statement 'Many kids or bad mind players coming just to played these mods.' is entirely not true. Many players that had come to this game only wish to experience the realism of playing with friends/strangers or by themselves, as well as the modding side. When I first got ArmA 2 back on 2012, I was excited about the realism and potential this game has got, especially with the amount of amazing mods this community has whipped up. In a couple of months, I was addicted to the fact that modding is amazing itself! Now at the age of 17, I am still playing the ArmA series and have the desire for working with Bohemia Interactive soon. So again, don't be a scrooge.. That is your opinion, but don't forget that there are tactical units around, which are heaps more fun than playing by yourself. Playing in Multiplayer can be a different experience (and I feel for those who play Singleplayer as well), but can be very beneficial as the battleground could be more intense and immersive. AI are fine in some occasions, but they can do some strange things like lying on the ground while firing, or simply know exactly where you are regardless of camouflage. Sure, I can understand that there are some (or many) players out there that could also do weird things, but like I said, they are different experiences. Try browsing through ArmAholic, I'm sure you'll find thousands of realistic mods. But if you want realistic, go join the Army or something.. I doubt that your attitude will be positive for ArmA 3... So you are blaming us 'old farts' for having mentality issues as well? I'm sure that if you start scripting or modding, you would be asking on the forums by now... Look, in overall. Be positive about the game, alright? Sure DayZ Standalone left a bad mark upon its development, but that doesn't mean that ArmA 3 will do the same. Tanoa has barely released yet, and now many are making assumptions that 'ArmA 3 only has kids now'. By the time this APEX DLC arrives, I'm sure there will be thousands of Tactical Military Servers flooding the server list, with many who will decide to try something new. Not only players want to play something specific, but they like to explore something on the way. I can understand what the developers are going through and I have chatted to them as well, but they had decided to use Steam because it allows easy updating of games and a workshop. If they switched to Origin, the same complaints would still fly in, as well as the fact that Origin does not have a workshop. But I can say this: they do not intend ArmA to be a civilian simulator AT ALL. And as far as I'm concerned, the developers for DayZ Standalone have very few staff, so give credit towards what they are doing (Not only that, the whole BIS company is the size of a two story building). Sometime in the next two years, I am likely to join BIS or BISim. So I have the same intention as well: Make ArmA a better game. -
Looks similar to the one in BANDAI's game Assault Horizon :P (this jet came out like 3-4 years ago):

Binocular model issue with hands - First person view
Ranwer135 replied to Ranwer135's topic in ARMA 3 - MODELLING - (O2)
Here are the photos for each LOD of the model in Object Builder: As you can see, LODs 1.000 and View - Pilot are replicas, including LODs ShadowVolume and Geometry. However, I am not sure what you mean by proxy object (I know what a proxy is, and that it can be used for muzzles/attachments. But not sure about proxy object)? Also, since I have triangulated the ShadowVolume model. Is it possible for the Geometry LOD to effect this issue, since it is also triangulated? -
Most likely they could be insurgents holding up the usual village (which is most likely in the coming campaign). :D But remember:

would you still buy any BI product ?
Ranwer135 replied to sgtsev3n's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
Obviously if you are not interested in any BI games, then why the heck are you still on the forums... :P Bohemia Interactive has a lot of potential, which I can understand their state and position (their company is the size of a two story building, btw). However, probably sometime soon we may see BISim exchanging more mechanics and info throughout time. I would love to see BIS working to get bugs fixed, but at the same time they are also creating more content to keep their game alive. The company probably is looking for more staff, and by 2018 I am considering to join them. But if I were in their shoes, I would be wanting to get those bugs fixed/solved. -
Ladies and Gentlemen, New development has been made to the RII System, and so far it is looking better by every second. ;) Since the item you are about to see has the label 'PEPSI', this will be changed as it is a prototype test model. So if you are new to DSS, don't despair as this year is going to be better than last year. :) *Updated first page of thread*
