  1. In the current phase: no. In the future: no, most likely not. Why? Because the Elephant really doesn't have a useful purpose. Especially not with its extremely slow speed or for a simulation game like Arma. Sorry about that :( I didn't add every single picture in the thread.
  2. Updated the original post to include screenshots/videos. Now you don't have to scroll through 35 pages to find the goodies! Also, 343 posts. yay

If I did, it would most likely be a Terbius Island styled island with Insurrectionist and CMA camps. As well as a New Mombassa city map, that would interesting and fun to play on. Further notes: Most of the weapons and vehicles will be shared amongst all factions considering the lack of variety amongst the universe. 4. Current road map is as follows: 1. Release simple ODST, UNSC Marine, and Innie with BR55HB and MA5C. 2. Finish all weapons. 3. Finish all UNSC. 4. Finish all Insurrectionists. 5. Finish all vehicles-- Final release? 6. Complete extras if desired (terrain; optional vehicles, weapons and factions possibly).
  5. The thing that really isn't touched upon in this community is things dealing with the ArmA modding process itself such as Oxygen 2 handling, configs, etc. Honestly the internet is filled to the brim with tutorials on how to model and texture and what not.
  6. Hopefully this doesn't get cancelled like almost every other attempted tutorials..
  7. My current plans involved just having it be a stationary object in the sky. There would be an enterable hangar-bay on the rear end that units could land and depart from. I would also like to set up a script to allow ODSTs to be dropped from here. It would be similar Jdog's USS Nimitz and I will get in contact with him to see about making this work better. And I'm not entirely sure what you mean by the "submarine code". Could you elaborate? I most likely will be taking you up on this offer. I'm gonna go ahead and add you on Steam. Most of my problems usually come from the BI Tools themselves.
  8. I will accept any help that is offered. Because as I said before, the more help I can get the faster this baby can be released. As for the Pathfinders, no promises but I will look into it I promise you. I already was thinking about putting the UNSC Army in so adding on Pathfinders wouldn't be that difficult. And for the MA5/MA37 irons... that is another challenge I'm having difficulty with. As you probably already know, the MA5, according to lore, has iron sights built into the rifle but were never shown in any of the games, movies, comics, etc. I could do something similar to this: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120422230030/halofanon/images/1/1f/MA7C.png -- including very close sights on a separate version. Or I could redesign the MA5 slightly to the "base" design which would remove the ammo-counting electronics suite included on the top and that could be fitted with default irons. And from there you could put different sights of your liking on if you wished. I also considered just ignoring the iron sights for most of the weapons and instead relying on the crosshairs ArmA provides for close quarters use. And the electronics suite would double as a scope you could zoom into, revealing only a forward facing reticule "scope" sight. If anyone has any ideas on this matter, or opinions on which you think would be best please let me know here.
  9. I suppose you would be happy to know someone is working on this ODST feature right now ;)
  10. I'm going to be using a combination of the comic Innies and the Colonial militia that we see in the Halo Reach mission "Nightfall" to design some custom units but for the most part they will look more civilian than anything. Similar to this: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101118030604/halo/images/3/37/Reach_9899643_Medium.jpg
  11. A couple people have sent me PMs offering assistance with the project and I appreciate it very much. More than anything, I appreciate those who are willing to offer help and advice. So if anyone is willing to be of assistance to me in the form of advice and willing to answers my questions should I run into an problems; please message me. The way I see it, the less hiccups I run into, the faster this mod can progress.
  12. Believe me, I think it would be cool to be able to add the Sangheili, but like I said unless someone can throw together a working skeleton with custom animations, I just don't see it happening. :(
  13. Yes, the Halo universe is indeed exciting. As for the legal issues, I am complying with Microsoft's Game Content Usage rules completely so we will have no problem here. I wish I could add the Sangheili (Elite) but it is just not do-able with my skill level. If someone with more skill could put together some kind of Elite skeleton/model I would be honored to add it to the mod. For the mean time we are just going to work on the Insurrectionists as the main antagonists for this mod. For those who don't know they were the rebels/terrorists who attacked the UNSC over the course of many, many years. @AngelWingGamingJacob- Lets talk more in PM and see what we can work out. Yes, this is pre-Covenant war. The Insurrectionists were featured in the webseries "Forward unto Dawn" and nearly all of the Halo books. The best I can tell you is to look on the halo wikia. Here are some relevant links to look at: http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Insurrection http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Eridanus_system http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/United_Rebel_Front http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Eridanus_Rebels More or less, yes. This is not focused around the Human-Covenant War that we see in the mainstream games. That story is done and told.
  14. Thanks! I might take you up on that offer. ;) This project has been in concept since before ArmA 3's announcement and I'm very excited to finally announce it. Hopefully others can voice their opinions as well.
  15. Firstly, why don't we just settle down with the hostility there, pal? Because it is incredibly uncalled for and against the rules as of Rule #1. Yes, I entered the MANW contest and promptly withdrew days later after seeing how the prize would interfere with the mod progression. Understand how that works? I noticed a mistake on my part and fixed it. As for the "afraid of Halo" thing, this can be argued. But there multiple instants in the Arma 1/2/3 mod request posts where I have seen a few requests relating to Halo content and nearly every time someone had a smug little remark along the lines of "If you want to play Halo, just go play Halo." And that is exactly what I am talking about. Perhaps it isn't true for the whole community, but it is nothing to get upset about.
  16. I am "officially" withdrawing my entry from the contest. As people believe this project is too controversial when it comes to copyright issues. This being said, the last time Microsoft even acted on a Halo fan-made modification was back in 2006 on Halogen. This was because they were at the time working on Halo Wars and did not want the competition it posed. Fans have been making Halo mods for a long time since then. Including (but not exclusively) Sins of the Prophets, a modification for the space naval tactics game Sins of a Solar Empire; and the Covenant at War mod for Star Wars: Empire at War. Being how Arma 3 is a realistic, tactical simulation I do not believe 343 or Microsoft Studios have any plans for games of this type likely ever, and since I will not be attempting to make money off of this I see no reason for your comments to stop me whatsoever. Instead, I see a stigma that the Halo series poses on you people here in the simulation community and forums. Seeing the word "Halo" scares people into thinking it is only a mindless, and unrealistic shooter. While the core games are exactly that, if anyone was to actually dig deeper into the Halo lore you will find a military science fiction orchard just ripe for the picking. There is room for the UNSC and its enemies (non-alien) to work in the Arma world. To be honest, I never intended to win this contest. The thought never once crossed my mind. My only objective was to get my mod project out into the open to see what people think of the idea. As you all would rather discuss the hypothetical "legality" of the mod instead of the actual concept or project itself (even though as pointed out before Microsoft has not been in the mood to cease and desist anyone in a long time) I will be switching this entire project and post over to the Arma 3 Mod Discussion forums to continue updated and development. A link to which can be found here: http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?177321-The-Eridanus-Insurrection-An-Arma-3-Total-Modication
  17. I do not enjoy the "crown of light" word. So I will not being using it when referring to the mod. Ever. Copyright is a possibility, especially if entered in the contest for a cash prize but unlikely. Even if I am not able to enter this into the contest, I will still work on it. As for the ODST drop pods, I have some ideas involving a heavy script-required AI driven helicopter as a work around. There are some other ideas I have and I have no doubts that it can be done but it will not be easy at all. It will just require heavy scripting and I'll have to request some help from more experienced scripters.

The main gun on the Puma does not seem to be working. It fires but no projectile actually fires.
  19. With the release of the ArmA 3 Alpha, I'm sure I am not the only one to take a serious interest in helping the community by providing addons and mods for people to experiment and play with. We want to help out, but tutorials are hard to come by, especially for ArmA 3. Now, I am not a complete newbie to the ArmA series itself, I started playing, oh.. since about the release of ArmA 2. So the in depth communities that have spawned over the years and the complex mods that people have been able to compile together are nothing new to me. I only wish to assist. I am especially looking at the more experienced mod makers for us out, but any help is very much appreciated. What I am asking for is for any tutorials, tips, or help that would be useful for addon creation in ArmA 3 to be linked or posted here. There are a few very helpful tutorials (such as brsseb's tutorials that cover OFP) that I am aware of, but some have just straight up disappeared off the face of the internet. Also, people say that there are many tutorials out there for everything but I have to disagree, I have no idea how experienced modders became accustomed with these tools. For example, At the moment, I am trying to familiarize myself with Oxygen2 by creating a very simple rifle. The only tutorial I can find for making a weapon with Oxygen, is brsseb's tutorial for Operation Flashpoint. How can something that I would assume be the simplest of modeled addons have such little documentation?
  20. We need more great modders like you Kiory, to show us noobies the ropes and how its done. :D Great work!!
