  1. A BIS dev mentioned they wanted suggestions to make the game seem more polished and slick. This one stands out to me as inaccurate loading bars are symptomatic of unpolished and it was especially obvious in Take on Helicopters. When you start a mission from the beginning you go to the loading screen and then it pulls up the briefing & map screen. Then once you proceed from that another load screen appears before you go ingame. That's fine, but when you continue a mission or go ingame from the editor (which for me is far, far more frequent then starting a mission from scratch) it doesn't need to show the briefing page so at the loading screen the bar reaches 100% the first time before resetting to zero and loading the second time. A simple if/else statement would solve that so instead of having the load bar go from 0-100 twice in a row it does it once but at half-speed.

    Because BIS made a model for Arma 2 DLC, which is only a modified model of the L-39 from Operation Arrowhead, therefore they can recycle the assets.

    Take On Mars - New BIS Game

    So, um, where exactly will the fun factor come from? They'll be a few laughs from crashing your ship into a million pieces but I think even hardcore sim fans will have trouble enjoying it if the meat of the gameplay is travelling at 0.5mph down gentle slopes on a barren wasteland to reach a pebble.

    Ships in full gam?

    Only a handful of patrol boats and a static Astute class submarine. However the Arma 2 nuclear submarine mods work even better in A3 due to the expanded underwater environment. Plenty of destroyer and cruiser mods too.

  10. Yes. A3 has great vapour trails from hi-speed maneuvers. Is the jet fighting AI in A3 or imported with A2? because they're doing a pretty good job.
  11. When I eject I see the vehicle falling about 50m below me. Maybe it's clipping your character as you get out and "running him over"?

  13. To be fair, did you notice with any BIS games a difference in graphical fidelity between the first screens and the last? Typically in preview shots the only things updated are like tweaked shaders or post-processing.

That's what a fighter jet sounds like to someone on the ground. Arma 2's weedy harrier engines were very disappointing. Good reference for how it should look in NVG as well.
  15. So Blufor's grenade launcher is the Metal Storm 3GL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IP_GTx4o134 which as you can guess from its name holds 3 shots. Will this be fixed? Seems a little weird that after 20 years the US replaces its single shot underbarrel grenade launcher with another single shot underbarrel grenade launcher. On that note, whist I do like the Walther P99, it seems a real odd choice as a sidearm replacement for the Beretta. P99's already been outdone with the PPQ. Imagine what it'll be like compared to the pistols 20 years from now.

  19. In terms of addons, anything made by the community for A2 or A2OA. In terms of installations, neither. I only copy the addon PBO to A3 alpha's addon folder.
  20. eeh, I think people are over-doing the praise. I've literally never had a chopper explode when crashing in A3, even at speeds that should compact it into a tiny cube. It's gone too far in the other direction from A2's exploding due to slightly rough landing. As Arma can't simulate mesh deformation and damage to the extent of, say, Il-2 Sturmovik it has to use explosions and blackened hulks to represent effects of high kinetic impacts. Seeing a helicopter bounce off the ground like a cricket ball after falling from a kilometer is considerably worse than seeing it explode on impact. At least the particle effects help hide the transition. lol at people so obsessed with avoiding explosions like those dirty CoD games that they want to make Arma look even worse.

You can download the files here http://www.mediafire.com/?endb5sd0tmq2vdl Open them with Wordpad to get junk characters and the folder names. The characters file lists all the clothes you can wear but it didn't interest me so I didn't note them down. Those files also list the weapons used by each vehicle and the faction they belong to.
